PTSD from experience at Pediatric doctor
I visited Dr. Janow when I was having trouble moving my joints due to an undiagnosed disease in 2014. As a scared 13 year old, she kicked my mother out of the room and asked if I was faking it or if I was depressed, then suggested I go to group therapy to deal with the unknown. She might have been coming from a caring place, but as a young sick girl with no knowledge of why I physically struggling, I was looking for a doctor to help, not for someone think I was faking the limp I was developing and to push me to talk to other girls “in my situation.” She was the first doctor that instilled distrust in the medical community for me. 10 years later, I’m healthy and getting help for my PTSD that this appointment gave me. It took me 10 years to write this, and I hope this hasn’t happened to any other children who visited Dr. Janow looking for help. PTSD does not belong in pediatrics. (I was diagnosed with a co-infection of Lyme 2 months later)

This doctor is singlehandedly the reason why I decided to pursue medicine as a career. She is the most understanding, compassionate being I have ever met and was able to offer so much support in arguably one of the lowest points in my life.

Dr. Janow is very caring, knowledgeable and a loving doctor. My daughter has been under the care of Dr. Janow for over 6 years, she looks forward to seeing her and all the other healthcare professionals involved in her medical treatment. Dr. Janow is good but the office is rude and difficult. No answer, on hold for a long time, being hung up on, talking to parents in a nasty tone. There is no other pediatric pheumatology practice in Bergen County. They have a monopoly. Englewood Hospital or Valley Hospital - why no pediatric rheumatology practice??? Local medical students - PLEASE go into the field of pediatric rheumatology but NOT join this practice so that parents have choices.

If you have the time to constantly keep on this doctor to do what she said she would do then this is the physician for you. We have been waiting for her to do as she said she would do for eight weeks now. She is either overwhelmed with too many patients or she does not care. In either scenario it is very disappointing as she is a malpractie case waiting to happen. I would not recommend.

We were turned away and not seen by Dr. Janow because we were late to our appt We had gotten stuck in traffic and was not able to arrive 1/2 hour early as requested by the office, therefore we were refused to be seen. I asked if we could be squeezed in and was willing to wait and was told no. The Dr has no time to squeeze anyone in. I asked if we could be seen by another Dr in the practice and was told no, all other Drs are booked solid and our appointment needs to be rescheduled.
