Emergency Surgery
I went to the ER at NYU Langone Mineola and ended up needing emergency surgery for acute appendicitis. My condition had not been properly diagnosed by my primary and I suffered for five days prior to going to the ER. The days of inflammation made it a very complicated and ling surgery and I also had to have a partial cecectomy done as a result. Dr. Baltazar did an amazing job. He was with me every step of the way and his aftercare communication is amazing. I have left him numerous messages through the NYU patient app and he has responded to them promptly and put me at ease on all of my postop Concerns. You don’t get to necessarily choose your emergency surgeon, but if you’re able to he is your guy. He is a skilled surgeon with a big heart.

ER Admission Colitis w Sepsis 32y/o Disabled Male
Pt. is my son who was symptomatic since Dec. Due to the pandemic and the difficulties presented in diagnostics of a non verbal quadriplegic, our routine maintenance physicians as well as myself as a RN for over 40 yrs, were flying blind until his symptoms hindered the administration of drugs which control his seizures, resulting in our visit to the ER. Dr. Balthazar took the reigns diagnosing and addressing the needs of my son on his unit and demonstrated both knowledge and a level of patience with an extremely demanding mother which exceeded what most are capable of dealing with. This was the first time I felt his life was in the balance and despite my controlling and often unacceptab!e behavior he maintained his focus on my son and embraced my pain with kindness that reflected a man whose experiences are both expansive and humble. I've been further impressed by reading his extensive research and academic contributions! Definitely the guy to go to when you require the best!
