Dr Tan is amazing
Dr Tan cared about my situation, I needed a colonoscopy after getting a scary test back on cologuard. He took care of my 2 polyps, easily and assured me that there is a high rate of false positives with cologuard. I didn't have cancer, thankfully. His office staff in Las Vegas is very good, especially his wife. Thank you for your care.

Incompetent doctor. He's probably good with textbook facts to pass tests but horrible connecting textbook theory with real patients. My husband complained of diarrhea. His medical assistant noted husband had very low blood pressure. When Dr Tan came in, he was told about my husband's low blood pressure but immediately said to discontinue blood pressure pills cold turkey. [Bad advice]. When Dr Tan asked date of husband's last colonoscopy, we replied 20 years ago. Dr Tan didn't suggest doing a colonoscopy [recommended every 10 years for people over 50]. Bad practice. If patient isn't bleeding internally, vomiting, anything obvious, Dr Tan is unable to diagnose or trouble-shoot condition. I don't recommend Dr Tan. He's too green.

Friendly, but late and clueless how VA works.
Dr. Tan showed up 12 mins late to my appt at the VA Hospital (1st appt. of the day so he was LATE), and wait some more to turn computer on so he could read medical notes. Poor preparation prior to my appt since he asked about symptoms that I never had or reported, and he couldn't answer me when I asked about the erroneous notes regarding my symptoms. He wasn't sure if the upper GI would be done at VA Hospital or other location, and wasn't positive if it would be done under anesthesia. He was VERY confused over VA Community Care procedures. I explained I had another hernia condition to be evaluated by a General Surgeon and requested to have both hernia surgeries done at the same time if possible. He agreed and told me to tell the General Surgeon to do both surgeries at the same time. I explained that is NOT how the VA works...the General Surgeon only does what the VA funded as documented in the Community Care Network referral.

Simply the Best
The idea that Dr. Tan only has a 2.4 rating here is ridiculous. Dr. Tan is incredible! He has the attributes I wish other practitioners in Nevada would have. He is intelligent and very skilled at what he does. When I talk with Dr. Tan, I feel like he is a friend, not a pretentious practitioner looking down his nose at me. What an incredible doctor! Vegas! If you lose him, I am moving.
