Arrogant
I was surprised and disappointed to find dr dyer arrogant and curt. He does not like to be challenged. He does not like to be questioned. Highly skilled but arrogant w no follow up. Doesn't seem to care one bit. Im still in pain after a seemingly simple carpal tunnel surgery. Would not recommend him again as i have in the past. I doubt he will care at all.

NEVER Replace a good joint with new
I am a healthcare professional that was injured at work. I injured my shoulder and was in a good deal of pain. I went to Dr Dyer because surgery was indicated. Dr Dyer was rushed, impatient and seemed bothered by my presence. After exam in office, he was to call me in 2 weeks time for phone visit. He called, stated he reviewed the CD of MRI and saw arthritis and very large cuff tear. He stated that he could do cuff repair but I would be back in 1-2 years for another repair due to arthritis. He stated it would make more sense to do total reverse shoulder replacement. He said office would be in touch. Fast forward to September 17th, I got email from Workers Compensation stating Dyer refused to schedule surgery as he did not like their return rate for surgery. I wasted 3 months in pain and he left me hanging in the wind. THANK GOD! I found another surgeon that took time and more X-rays and it was determined I ABSOLUTELY didn’t need replacement, just cuff repair RUN AWAY FAST

Lost significant range of motion due to my surgery
Before my surgery (a trapeziectomy-anthroplasty), I had pain but full range of motion in my left hand. As a past professional musician and guitarist, full use of my hands is important. Dr. Dyer advised me that I would maintain full range of motion and recovery would take around 3 months. After 6 months and much physical therapy, I still have pain in my thumb which was the focus of the procedure, as well as in my index finger which was not the focus. Further, I have lost around 30 percent of the range of motion in my thumb and index finger which has severely limited my ability to play guitar, as well as my ability to ride a bicycle and motorcycle. All of these activities were my main reasons for getting the surgery in the first place. I have the same problem (Basal Joint Arthritis) in my other hand but I will not be going back to Dr. Dyer to fix any more problems. Although the resulting scarring from the surgery is almost unnoticeable, I do not recommend him for any surgical procedures.

Very Poor Follow Up
My son was casted for a fracture and it was nearly impossible to get a follow up visit for removal. Immobilized joints shouldn’t be casted too long as it affects ROM long term. Very disappointed.

Excellent doctor!
I fractured my distal radius while biking in Canada. When I returned back to Boston I was able to an appointment with Dr. Dyer never hearing his name and not knowing anything about him. The minute I met him I knew he was an excellent doctor. He was kind, explained to me what my distal radius was, and what needed to be done to fix it. The day of my surgery as they were wheeling me into the operating room, I had one last question for Dr. Dyer. Can I go to the beach on Saturday? With a warm laughing smile he said, of course just don’t go in the water. I return to visit Dr. Dyer every year just to make sure the plate in my wrist are still in tack and I have never felt rushed. If you feel rushed it’s probably because he has so many patients waiting to see him. He answers all your questions and is responsive. He gives you the best care possible.

Dr. Dyer seemed nice enough at first. After my surgery I was in terrible pain for a year. I saw him several times and had to beg for help. His arrogance was astounding. He barely has time to give you 4 minutes and he is trying to get out the door. Three surgeries and two years after I was butchered, my arm is almost as good as it was before Dr Dyer operated. Go to New England Baptist. They have a far superior orthopedic department. Working with this man was the worst mistake of my life.
