Very professional caring people

We visited Dr. Van Thiel after seeing our general orthopedic, looking for further insight into my daughter's hip pain post- fall in basketball several months ago. We had already tried physical therapy with a normal MRI. He was able to see mild, non surgical changes on the mri of hip and outline a plan of care that will hopefully lead to improved recovery.

I could understand all of what he was telling me. He answered. All my questions.

It seems Dr Van Thiel is too busy to see his patients for post op appointments and delegates them to his PA’s. The PA’s at this clinic have no interest in the patient’s well being and just offers generic recommendations (ie additional PT, alternate pain med, or additional scans(xray, MRI) without looking at the patient’s surgical area. In deciding on a which Orthopedic surgeon to choose, I would recommend also looking into how well the support system is in terms of pre and post operation support. This clinic definitely lacks that.

My visit today was excellent. Got in took some x-rays. Saw the PA saw the doctor all is good. PT in two weeks. Can’t wait.

Saw Dr. Van Thiel for the first time for shoulder MRI results. My weight was short. Doctor came in, pulled up my MRI pointed out the anatomy on a model and showed me the parts of my inflammation. I was given several alternatives for treatment In PT and had an oral steroid so today I really requested a steroid injection which I received promptly. I’m glad I did not have to come back for an injection appointment since it was an hour drive for me. I would trust anyone in my family with Dr. Van Thiel.

Check in was good, but gave PA Sage wrong room info. She had to look for me. She was very thorough and gave me options for treatment.

I cannot believe how minimal the pain has been since having had my recent shoulder surgery. I heard horror stories from several people about how painful it would be afterwards. Dr. Van Thiel did an incredible job. I am very pleased. Only 12 days after my surgery I can already raise my arm by myself 153°. I have been diligent about my exercises at home as well as doing physical therapy daily. I also highly recommend using the Enroute System that was recommended to me by Dr. Van Thiel before and after surgery. If you need shoulder surgery; I highly recommend him. The staff is also very helpful and friendly.

Dr. Van Thiel discussed with my younger son several different reasons why he is experience knew pain. When we left my son said he really liked him and how well he described the anatomy of the knee.

Dr Van Thiel put me at ease for both my surgery and follow up appointment. He has a terrific bedside manner and answered all of my questions with both complete confidence and kindness I am now on the path to healing ; thanks to his special skills, knowledge and expertise. Thank you to Dr. Van Thiel and his entire team.
