Dr. Ganesh Rao, MD

My husband suffered from a seizure in June 2022. Biopsy was done and pathology revealed a low grade glioma tumor on his frontal lobe. We were referred to Baylor College of Medicine in Houston with Dr. Jacob Mandel and Dr. Ganesh Rao. Dr. Rao made us feel at ease from the moment he stepped into the room. He was able to do a safe maximal resection and my husband is stable with no regrowth to this date. Our current neuro-oncologist said she has never seen such pristine margins from a resection. What beautiful work she tells us! We are forever grateful to Dr. Rao and if he ever needs surgery again, we are going to request Dr. Rao. You're in safe hands with Dr. Rao.

In the summer of 2017 I was a 67 yr-old widow diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor. On my 1st visit at M.D. Anderson Dr. Rao matter-of-factly said "I don't think it's cancer." Beautiful words I had not expected to hear! He explained that I had a small, benign menengioma. Over the next two years, he watched for growth or change through routine mri's. He was always concerned about my overall health and referred me for surgery to repair herniated discs in my neck in 2018. In Aug 2019 my MRI showed significant growth. Dr. Rao recommended surgery; more growth would damage my vision or motor skills. On Dec 5, 2019 he told me before surgery "I'll take good care of you". I knew he would. I was not afraid. He was able to remove all of it, even though it was very near a large artery. I did well but then unexpectly had problems with high blood pressure and dehydration. I stayed 8 days. During those days I learned what a kind, caring person Dr. Rao is. I'm so blessed and grateful.

Dr. Rao saved my husband's life. He operated on a tumor in my husband's cerebellum in September of 2016. He eased our concerns, and his bedside manner is better than most surgeons.
