Trust
Dr. Heyliger was punctual and appeared to be listening. However, he made a statement that I felt was not in my best interest especially given my history with prostate cancer. He stated rectal exam was not necessary, and PSA was adequate which was not done either. Based on my history, it was a rectal exam along with PSA and other tests that found my cancer. Both are needed to properly care for male patients of color. Also, I had to follow up on several occasions for labs/ x-ray reports. When my assigned advocate with documentation on file spoke to MD, he refused to give the report unless he was able to see me/FaceTime. He refused to continue medications. Stated no record, and I needed to send him a picture of the container. I advised that it’s on record at Publix Pharmacy. I felt he didn’t trust us or we are users/medication abusers. Black and brown people, we cannot be trusted. Chen’s medical is only interested in doing unnecessary tests. tech and medical assistant were not good.
