Dr. Frank Mannino, MD

Our baby boy was born three months early and was in the UCSD NICU for almost five months. Dr. Mannino was the attending doctor and ran a loving NICU and was a kind and loving man, himself. It’s been almost 19 years since then, and our son is healthy and awesome. Dr. Mannino was there the day we brought our boy home and with tear-filled eyes said our son was a miracle. Science did its part but our son shouldn’t have lived through what he lived through. He said our son must have a special future and will do great things and he wanted us to update him when he got older. We are often thoughtful of Dr. Mannino and his kindness from that special day. Our son is serving a two-year mission for our church and is an avid drawer, story-teller, and animator. He’s trained with Disney greats and will attend Brigham Young University after his volunteer mission. He’s a beautiful person inside and out and I hope someday Dr. Minnino gets to meet him again. We love you, Dr. Minnino and Diana Sanford too.

Worked with him at UCSD Hillcrest Hospital NICU over 10 years ago. Incredible neonatologist, Teacher to residents, nurses, and parents. Sensitive to parents during difficult unknown outcome of babies conditions. Working with him meant you’d learn something new, be appreciative of your hard work, and babies placed back with clean diapers after his assessments. Never NEVER acted as if “Attending MD knows everything thus everyone should just obey orders with no imput.” Mistake of New MDs
