Good doctor but impossible to get ahold of
My mom just started seeing Dr. Kim about 6 months ago for A-Fib. He has been so hard to get ahold of. After my mom was in the ER recently, she was told to call his office the next day for a follow up. Dr. Kim’s office staff tried to push her off to a hospital in Tulsa where she’d had a recent surgery even though the issue was not due to the surgery. She called that hospital and, yep, was told she needed to speak with her local cardiologist. She has been trying to get an appointment scheduled for almost a week now with no luck. If someone was directed to get into their cardiologist within 1 to 2 days after being seen in the ER for heart issues, then it should be able to be done. Joplin is big enough that we should be able to expect better from our healthcare. Their voicemail rudely says to not leave multiple messages. No wonder people do that. They get desperate to simply hear back from the office. They need to do better.

Not impressed
Dr Kim was the on call cardiologist over the weekend when my mother was in the hospital with heart issues. She had just been moved out of ICU and Dr Kim was consulted due to continued abnormal symptoms. He acted like he had no time, he obviously had not reviewed her chart very well, he did not act like he wanted to answer questions, he was dismissive of her symptoms, when we were trying to get answers to her health issues, of which we never really got any solid answers. He was short with his answers and didn't really seem to care about our concerns. Not impressed!! I am a healthcare provider and would never treat my patients or their family like he treated us.

Great heart surgeon
He saved my life. I had a big heart attack and was on life support. Dr Kim came in and stinted the widow maker and placed a life support machine for my heart. I was told that I died suddenly but was brought back. I’m very thankful

Very rude, condescending
My first visit to this Dr., my worst experience with any Dr in my lifetime. Did not have the time to take out his stethoscope to even listen to my heart. Did absolutely nothing as far as checking my health, and seemed to be in a extreme hurry. Seemed to have no time to listen to concerns, was all around rude.

Dr. Kim is probably highly competent, but I was put off by his cold and arrogant manner. He seemed very condescending. I won't go back.

My appoint was changed to Dr Kim. He didn't want to listen to what my problems were and finished every sentence I was trying to say with his own words (which were wrong), as if I was a clone of everyone else. He was obviously in a hurry and nurse said he had already left when I came out of room. He didn't read the paperwork I filled out stating the meds I was already on, as the nurse said he wanted me to start something I was already maxed out on and wasn't working. She had to call him on cell so he cancelled it and prescribed another. I was already on that too so I just said thank you and left. After picking up a copy of appointment, even the doctor notes weren't accurate. I'll try another doctor.

My Mother had to have a visit with Dr Kim to get cleared for knee replacement, even though she has not had any cardiovascular issues in the last several years. He was rude and “mean”. He Didn’t take the time to listen to my mother and was only in the room 2 minutes. He seemed angry and very agitated that she had not been seen for 2 years. If she wasn’t needing this knee surgery so bad, she would fire him and get another Cardiologist that actually takes the time to listen to his patients. He caused her much undo stress today and it was very unprofessional.
