I've lived with IBD for over 15 years, and Dr. Martinez is the kindest, down-to-earth, and all around best GI doc I've ever had. He treats you as a person, and not just another patient.

He has an off-putting personality and appears to be one of those physicians that thinks he is living in the 1950's where MDs were gods and does not realize that medicine is a service industry, with an importance to society analogous to that of auto mechanics. He has been practicing for 12 years, so I think his personality is set. There are fare more effective an pleasant GI service providers out there.

I have been to Dr Martinez for my weight loss issue. Dr. Martinez was instantly able to diagnose the issue and was incredibly supportive to me. I wasn't getting appointment at behavioral health facility as they were not taking new patients. He went out of the way, spoke to them on my behalf (even when I didn't ask him to) and gave me a call with proper suggestions and next steps. He kept on checking up on me on how far I was in recovery. I was amazed to see his compassion and care. Hats off!

Dr. Martinez performed an endoscopy on me when I was admitted to South Shore Hospital emergency Department. I was very scared, but Dr. Martinez was so compassionate and took the time to explain what was going to happen and put me at ease. The procedure was done an over with before I knew it. After my test results came in Dr. Martinez called me to go over them and took the time to explain what everything meant. I never felt like he was rushing. He took his time to make sure I understood.

Dr. Martinez went above and beyond to help me through a very rough two weeks. I was referred to him for abdominal pain and he called me every day for a week until he was sure I had fully recovered from a horrible virus. His compassion and professionalism set him above any specialist I have ever worked with.
