No, all around.
The office staff is not nice, the Dr does not have any bedside manner. He rushes a lot and does not truly listen to what you're saying or what you are concerned about. Every single time I go in, a new medicine is given to me. I come home with packs and packs of medications to 'keep trying'. Avoid this practice.

The actual doctor is a good guy, his staff is absolutely horrible and have zero customer service skills and hang up on you if you dare to self advocate

Absolute worst service that I have ever had!
This is the second time in a row that I was left in the room for over an hour before being seen by the PA. Last time I complained that I had to get back to work. They were apologetic and promised it would not happen again. This time I heard the PA going in and out of the multiple patient rooms to unprofessionally flirt and joke with the MAs every couple of minutes. I finally stepped outside of my exam room to explain that I had a meeting to leave for and that I had been waiting over an hour. I was assured I was next to be seen. A couple minutes later I hear the PA come out and loudly explain “Que Pasa” and was then told in Spanish I’m that I was upset. He finally came into the room with an attitude. I explained that ALL of our time is valuable and that this was the second time that I’ve had to wait over an hour and not even see the neurologist. He must have taken offense as he lost his professionalism. I will be reporting this incident and filing a complaint with TRiCARE

Stay away!
I would read all the below reviews with 1 star. they are all accurate. the phone rings forever without a voicemail. the nurses are not nice AT ALL! I wish I had the name of the last one because she kept cutting me off and wouldn't even look at me in the face as If I had done something wrong! I can NEVER get a refill request even after I just went to be seen and she only gave me 1 month of prevention med but my follow up was scheduled 2 months later. so a whole month without medication (which was already approved by my insurance) and migraines have been so horrible Im scared driving. Definitely looking for another neuro. Stay away if you need serious medical attention this is not the place.

Supposed visit with Dr González Portillo
I went to my appointment with Dr González Portillo and they told me that’s not in the office that day. They suspended my appointment 3 or 4 times before because he will not be in the office because I told them that I am going to see only him and the lady in the from office told me that the Dr is not working that day. That’s another Nurse practitioner that dat . I am tired to have people that didn’t treat my condition of MS like nothing. Enough is enough. I am done with this office I am going to look for a better professional to give me better quality of life and health. I don’t recommend this office to anybody. I don’t give them any stars because they don’t deserve any . They have 0 stars from me.

AVOID - especially for Neuromuscular care
I strongly recommend avoiding Neurological Health Associates. Dr. Gonzales-Portillo missed an obvious diagnosis and rather than further investigate my symptoms told me that he didn't know what the issue was and to come back after 3 additional months of documenting symptoms (1 had already been in his care for 2 months at that point and had a whole battery of tests). I finally diagnosed myself and brought the test results to prove it. He was not convinced and wanted to delay treatment by a month while waiting on additional tests. My diagnosis ended up being correct. When it was confirmed by his tests, he didn't even come to my appointment to tell me, and instead sent the nurse practitioner (who was very kind). Dr. Gonzalez-Portillo has poor bedside manner and little empathy for his patients. His front office staff hung up on Quest Diagnostics and then myself on two occasions. His office routinely submits the wrong information to insurance resulting in denial of coverage for imaging.

INCOMPETENT / DISASTROUS
I made an appointment more than 2 months in advance. I read in the reviews that the doctor does not attend to patients and that the nurse does everything, so when I arrived I asked the Neurologist to attend to me. They told me that there was no appointment in my name to attend to me. they could serve me. I told her that I wanted to be seen by the Neurologist and not by anyone else. AFTER 45 MINUTES OF WAITING, I asked if the doctor had arrived and was told that the nurse would attend to me. I told him that my appointment was for the Neurologist and they told me that the evaluation is done by a nurse that the doctor does not see patients that everything is through the nurse. I asked her to change the date to see the doctor and the secretary told me that I had wasted her time. I WASTED MY TIME GOING TO AN OFFICE OF INCOMPETENT PEOPLE WHO BILL THE INSURANCE FOR NEUROLOGY SERVICES THAT THEY DO NOT FULLY PROVIDE.

The office manager stole $183.00 from me years ago. She admitted that I was charged in error, on two separate occasions, then promised "my check would be in the mail." The refund never came. Do not trust this office!

Horrible service. Can not get a real person on the phone. I left several messages. Their office finally got back with, only after my GP called them direct, and all his staff told me is that were understaffed. Not the kind of doctor I want.

They never answer their phones. I'm not sure how they have patients or are able to help people when they never answer their phones. After trying for a whole week to get someone on the phone line the unprofessionalism by the staff is just horrid. They act as if you are bothering them. They don't want to help you. Find another doctor.

My experience with the doctor was non-existent. My experiences with his staff have been awful. My first visit was with a PA, who examined me less thoroughly than my GP had before referring me. She told me to increase the dosage of the medication I was already taking and to schedule testing. I took half a day off work to go in for the testing, only to be told when I arrived that they could do only half of it, because the doctor wasn't around. I was assured they could do the other half when I came in for follow up. Well, follow up was today. After waiting 30 minutes in the front area, I asked how much longer and got moved to an exam room, where I waited ANOTHER HOUR. Finally, I went out and spoke to someone at the desk, who told me, basically, that appointments are meaningless. Only when I mentioned the unfinished testing did she pay attention and bring out the office manager. She wanted to reschedule the appointment. Why? Why would I go back there?

If I could leave no stars I would! I had the worst experience of my life with a doctor and I have been seeing doctors since I was 12 for my migraines (which was a long time ago). This doctor has no manners, no human emotion, no knowledge of anything. The only good thing of this office is the lady at the front which is very courteous. He is very rude and arrogant and you should not even go for 1 visit to this place. Save yourself money and time!

Doctor never have time to explain to their patients and his attention is poor. Receptionist never answer the phone.Makes no show fee charges even when you cancel the appointments. Never sent laboratories results or any other document to PCP. Never receive any of submitted faxes. Doctor is not available and personnel can't have options for the patients even when they are the ones making mistakes. Not recommended.
