I had to see Dr. Acholonu for the surgical removal of an IUD after my in office removal became too complicated ( IUD was partially embedded in scar tissue) He was very rough in his placement of the speculum. He kept advising changes to my BC but wouldn't listen that I was changing specifically to manage my symptoms of PCOS (managed with a different doctor). Didn't inform me before or after the procedure as to what he would be doing. And I had to wait AT LEAST one hour past my appointment time for every appointment with him. I will never be seeing him again.

Dr. Acholonu was the on call OB when I delivered my son due to my OB being out due to his daughter's death. He was extremely rude and insensitive. Not knowing that I was a high risk patient nor that I was the patient that he would be providing services for, he stated that I "did need to be making all that noises because I wasn't making that noise" when I was "getting pregnant". He said this as I was being wheeled into the L&D section of St. Vincent. Needless to say, I was extremely upset and even more upset when he came in the room to deliver my son. After my son was delivered, he looked at me and asked if I wanted to have any more children, especially if I was going to "carry on". Needless to say, my father who also worked at the hospital had to ask him to leave my room. His bedside manners are horrible!

Dr A has been my doctor for the past 27 years. He delivered all 3 of my children. He is very matter of fact and that can come across as poor beside manners but trust me it is not his intention. Dr A is a very caring, knowledgeable doctor and is the BEST!!!

I think he is very rude and insensitive. I won’t even chalk it up to a culture issue but he’s just not professional to me and very pushy. I will definitely be switching doctors and I can’t wait.

I would never recommend this doctor to anyone. He was the supervising doctor for my son back in 2014 and I had made the decision to not have any painkillers or epidural. At 9cm he bursts into the room and the first thing he says to me is “why don’t you want any drugs?” He elected to give me an episiotomy and I was too exhausted and overwhelmed to object. I had a very significant tear and after being stitched up I was full incontinent for weeks and had pelvic floor pain until the birth of 2nd son

He helped deliver my son when he was born and completely messed me up to wear i could not have any more vaginal births. When stitching me up he stitched me completely up to where i couldnt even use the bathroom and had to go thru several procedures to fix what he caused. It was a complete disaster. I still till this day have night mares of reliving this horrible experience he created.

Dr Acholonu was my dr for my 3rd pregnancy. I wanted a VBAC. He gave me all the information to make an informed decision. I decided I wanted to have my VBAC and he supported it. When delivery day came, he had patients to see. He left the patients in the office and came to me. My sons cord was stuck between my pelvic bone and his head and dr A acted quickly to get him out while still following my birth plan. We had to use the vacuum and he explained everything. I loved him!!!!

I scheduled a follow-up appointment after an emergency D&C following a miscarriage. He was extremely rude and harsh during my appointment and my examination, and his only interaction with me was to gruffly ask Why are you here? A miscarriage is traumatic enough without the unnecessary insensitivity of medical professionals. I would never recommend him.
