Avoid at all costs
My daughter was misdiagnosed by Dr Su. When she told him the meds he prescribed were increasing suicidal ideation, he yelled, “Who do you think you are? How dare you question me!?” He refused to listen to her concerns. She left in tears. This man is a narcissist and is to be avouded at all costs.

Unhelpful
I always felt rushed when I saw Dr. Su, and the time I did get with him I felt that he did not take my concerns seriously at all. Every single person I’ve spoken to who have seen him, at least half a dozen people, were diagnosed with bipolar disorder by him and received the same medications (all women, though it may be the case with men too). I left him as a patient and could not be happier with that decision.

Left feeling worse than when I came in
I suffer from major depression and I switched to Dr Su from Dr. Chopra. Promise healthcare states in its patient rights that I can change providers if I feel that I'm not receiving the care I feel I should. From the first meeting with Dr. Su he accused me of pill shopping. I was having anxiety attacks and was basically told to deal with it. So I continued to take the medicine he did prescribe exactly as he prescribed. Then I had medical emergency that landed me in the hospital with acute respiratory failure. I was in bad shape and even received my last rights from a priest. I recovered in the hospital. When I was discharged my anxiety hit higher than I've had before I also started having nightmares of the priest and not being able to breathe or talk and feeling death. I have this every night now. Dr.Su accused me of lying about everything. Raised his voice at me and basically threw me out of office. I'm dealing with this ATM. And no at promise healthcare cars.

Best psych doc in town.
Doesn't have much time but he does listen. Probably the best care I have received in town since my diagnosis.

Awful.
He was in the room 30 seconds after having an intern do the actual assessment. Insisted on giving me a medication for symptoms which I do not have, while completely ignoring the symptoms I clearly described. Plus the medication he prescribed is highly contraindicated for my actual health status, according to an easy web search. I'm wondering if his previous gig was a prison doctor and am already considering my other options, including reporting him to the Illinois Department of Professional Regulation. Let's get rid of bad doctors!

Improper diagnoses
He loves to diagnose females as borderline and or bipolar. It's sexist and inappropriate. After being snowed on benzos, the doctor woke me each morning at 6 am for a 5 minute conversation. Completely inappropriate to diagnose people when they see you less than 48 hours total. I'm currently attempting to get my records amended after I was properly diagnosed. His diagnoses are affecting my life years later while trying to get government clearance. Numerous patients have been misdiagnosed. Remember to call the state and have your records amended so we can start a paper trail.

Good Listener
Dr. Su has helped me tremendously thru out the years. He listens to what I have to say with interest. We go through my meds and my moods. Any problems, adjusts my meds if needed. I recommend Dr. Su if you feel you need help with anything. He is a good listener and wants to help you if need be.

Dr. Su is the fist decent psychiatrist I have seen in Central IL, but he doesn’t have much time for his patients. I am grateful for an accurate diagnosis, and for the fact that he actually listens to what I say. He just has so many patients that appointments are a bit rushed.

Dr. Su is a very unhelpful man if you're seeking any kind of real help. He will never take the time to diagnose anything, and will rush through everything to prescribe the bare minimum without listening to you, whether it's what you need or not. If you need any kind of prescription that you actually need a psychiatrist for, he'll accuse you of lying to take drugs for fun. Dr Yang is even worse, with the same toxic environment but with more hostility towards patients. Just avoid this place entirely.

I Love to visit Dr Su. I only wish that their was an email I could use to send messages instead of the phone. Not always do I get phone call reminders as I once used to. I do not mind the drive, other than not having ulternate ways of communication.

His approach is "give mood stabilizers first, ask questions later" regardless of a persons' diagnosis or condition. He didn't really even ask much about that Perhaps this is helpful for some, but for me they haven't been helping at all. That was the only help he offered.
