Dr. Eugene Kaplan, MD

I overheard Dr. Kaplan recalling a patient’s family member accompanying a patient being a cigarette smoker during their visit. He could be heard VERY RUDELY accusing the family member of supposedly REEKING of cigarette smoke and exposing the entire clinic to secondhand smoke as if they were smoking a cigarette right there! He even told the patient’s family that if he even thought he smelled it again the person would have to wait out in the lobby or even outside of the clinic altogether because he didn’t want the clinic to smell or other patients to smell it. What was funny is that this person DID NOT smell of cigarettes and was even complimented several times by other patients and even staff for her PERFUME. So as good a doctor or surgeon Dr. Kaplan is, he’s EXTREMELY prejudicial against anyone he knows smokes cigarettes or vapes and can’t seem to control himself from imposing his negative personal feelings, and his nurse shouldn’t have had to apologize for his tyrannical conduct! Sad!

I was new to the area and needed to get established to continue HRT that I had been on for over a year. He insisted on performing a 'full body exam' without listening to me or reading my previous records. I tried explaining I no longer needed pap smears and he wouldn't hear it. He insisted and when I told him I'd find a different doctor he stated, 'You won't find a doctor in CA that will write a prescription without doing a full body exam. It's state law.' This is a blatant lie. The director at this practice confirmed this was a lie. I found a different doctor the next day who listened, read my previous records, and didn't demand a 'full body exam' to continue current treatments.
