Dr. Esther Kim, MD

I didn’t wait long to be seen. Actually, I arrived a bit early and was seen right away. My visit was for a routine, first-time skin cancer screening. Everything was fine. Dr. Kim commented on some of the other issues with my skin and nails and gave me info on how to take care of them.

I made the appointment to address 2 specific issues and to get a complete dermatology exam. Dr. Kim spent less time with me than it took for me to get undressed for her visit. I did not feel that she was interested in addressing my issues: 1. brown spots on the inside of my left arm and bumps on the outer, upper part of my left arm. 2. The thinning of my hair on top of my head and a change in texture and lots of hair combed out. She touched the top of my head and disagreed with my description and she lifted up my left arm said I was scratching it. In short, Dr. Kim didn’t ask any questions. Her diagnosis was that “I had dry skin”, gave me a prescription for my skin and an OTC medication for top of my head. I should return in 2 years.

Dr. Kim is knowledgeable, thorough and friendly. Very approachable and helpful.

Dr. Kim was kind, thoughtful, and compassionate. She kept asking me if I had any more questions. Not many doctors do that anymore.

My first visit with Dr. Kim was wonderful! She explained everything clearly and amiably.

I went to my first skin cancer screening. Dr. Kim was very thorough in her exam, explaining the process and any observations worth noting. It was quick and painless. She was had a very pleasant demeanor. The office was very clean and the wait time was literally 2 minutes at best.

She was very attentive and listened carefully to all my questions. My only complain is with the practice that won’t allow me to express more than one concern per visit. But that has nothing to do with her. She is great!!

Dr. Kim glanced at the effected areas and then asked what products I use. After that she said she could prescribe medication if I wanted, gave two options, said there were risks, but then did not explain the risks. She then asked what I want to do and asked why I was there, what I wanted from her. It was so odd. When she asked if there was anything else, I showed her another skin issue to which she responded that she was confused. Again she asked what I wanted from her— OTC recommendations or prescriptions? I explained that I wanted advice on how to manage these issues and care for the skin. Again she said she could prescribe something or not. What did I want from her? I asked a couple more questions. She seemed burdened by having to explain things, which she didn’t really do, just threw some terms around. It felt like she didn’t want to be there, yet she said she just wanted to be helpful. I felt dismissed and unsure how to navigate the encounter. Never going back to her.

Dr. Kim was warm, friendly, entirely professional and I was sopleased that only having seen her two or three times before, sheremembered me very clearly. Would absolutely recommend her tofriends.
