Infected Saliva Gland
Had a stone removed from saliva gland under the tongue. Dr Thaler was great, she was very easy to talk to, listened to my history, and knew exactly was was going on and what was needed. Ordered a CT scan and arranged an appointment to remove the stone. The removal was also extremely easy, no pain, and did not need any follow up appointment.

Overpriced
Dr. Thaler's office billed my insurance company almost 4000 dollars for one CT scan. In what universe does a basic, tried-and-true test cost this much? Unbelievable.

I went to see Dr. Thaler because she's with Penn. However, it turned out to be a total disappointment. She looked like she's not interested in helping me at all. Said there's nothing she could do about my situation within the first minutes. The whole visit was over in less than 10 minutes. I went to another doctor and now he's helping me which resulted great improvements. Don't be fool by the Penn name. She thinks she's above everyone because she has that name, but she doesn't have a good heart that is needed to be a good clinician.

WARNING: This practice and UPenn charge a substantial "facility fee" that plenty of insurances WILL NOT COVER. I was billed for $1200 for a 20 minute appointment - Dr Thaler's practice was billed as a hospital/surgical center rather than a specialist by my insurance, which made it go from a nice $25 copay to a 20% coinsurance payment, plus deductible/out-of-pocket. DO NOT USE THEM unless you can verify that you will not pay this fee. Don't assume ANYTHING about their billing - go somewhere else if they cannot confirm this for you, or you will regret it. (Ask wherever else you go, too!) The doctor was great, but not worth it. I'd rather be sick.

new pt appointment has now cost me over a grand. Arrived saw nurse, she sprayed a liquid in my nose. I had to ask what she was doing and why. I was told Dr Thaler wanted to look in my nose BUT was not told it would be billed as an outpatient OR surgery visit! Neither the nurse or Dr Thaler advised what the procedure was and possibility of side effects or insurance issues. Getting the run around from Dr Thaler's office and PennMed when I inquire and ask to appeal bill.

After having sinus surgery with a different ENT, I still could not breathe through my nose. I put off having a second surgery but was miserable with at least 5 sinus infections a year. Finally agreed to surgery with Dr. Thaler and woke up from surgery breathing through my nose. No packing, no bleeding! I rarely have any sinus issues anymore, but if I do, I can talk to Dr. Thaler or a resident at any time - even on Easter Sunday.

While a long road of visits to get the device, the clinical group is excellent! I can't wait until the device is activated. Success is very high based on the clinical studies, post studies & Penn's research.
