This woman needs some lessons in compassion!
I found her to be rude, defensive, and hypocritical. She should not be treating chronic pain patients. She lacks empathy and compassion, doesn't even listen, cuts you off when trying to explain something and doesn't even look at you. Seeing anything nice said about her makes me wonder if she only treats patients with PTSD poorly, I met others that felt the same way. 1st meeting she put in my chart that I had a personality disorder after talking to me for 5 mins! 2nd meeting she was hostile when confronted then had the nerve to put in my chart that my pain was psychosomatic and flat out lied more than once! Even my therapist and psychiatrist were appalled and agreed that she seemed to be mocking me several times. Anyone who knows me, knows that I am nothing like Dr Bials descriptions. If she wasn't temp I'd have her fired! If you have any kind of mental illness do not see her! And I encourage all patients to read their charts!

REAL pain doctor for those who don't seek meds
SO SMART! Don't believe the negativity. She was very holistic and thoghtful, reviewed my MRI carefully and explained everything. Talked about a full range of options, and didn't push me to choose one way over another. Maybe kindest pain doctor I've met, and I have seen many, sadly.

Open your mind. Dr.Goal really cares!
Dr. Bial is a very compassionate, empathetic & thorough Doctor. I've been in the medical field my whole life. Not all of us in pain want to open our minds to alternative regimens. I'm close to the 70 marker & set in my ways. Over 25 years of opioides and many other medications I wanted more from life than just pain medication and being tired. I'm opening my mind with hesitation to Dr. Bial's suggestions. Don't rely on the negative reviews of Dr. Bial. Dr. Bial spent over an hour listening to my needs. Dr. Bial is going to come up with new suggestions and medications. Looking forward to my next visit Open your minds to a new way of dealing with your pain with Dr. Bial.

One of the best MD's I have met
Honest, brilliant, efficient, funny, personable, great communicator, Dr. Bial made me comfortable about all procedures, anticipated questions and concerns and demonstrates a true concern for me as a patient. So smart, does research but translates everything well to layman's terms. Advocates for conservative treatment before surgery. Her mind processes very quickly, so it may seems like she is rushing, but it is just that she runs at a speed greater thatn most of us. This makes her a great surgeon- focused and fast. Loves fashion and jewelry. Bring her chocolate, and she will never forget you.

I saw this Dr. few years back.Worst Dr ever. My husband came with me to see her a while back after some injuries. I have muscular skeletal disease just like my dad along with other unfortunate health problems and over past few years I've had numerous falls and injuries. Pain management prescribes me meds to help me sleep at night but I'm in pain everyday and just because I'm not a candidate for surgery doesn't mean I'm never in pain . Imaging doesn't lie ! It's funny I've had injections and she told me they would be a waste but they have helped . Drs. know I have legitimate back neck and joint issues and understand me. Never waste your time seeing this Dr. My husband and I wanted to leave in the middle of my apt and wish we did. I have some days where it doesn't take much to reinjure and hard for me to work because some days the pain is so bad. Atleast she's the only bad Dr. Ive had to deal with. Been debating but I may even write a letter to the hospital, she called me a liar.

Outstanding clinician! I was referred by my neurosurgeon to Dr. Bial for an injection. She was extremely informative, thorough and compassionate. I found her very personable which put me at ease, as I had much anxiety heading in to the procedure. I appreciate her competent skill and demeanor.

Dr. Bial is a saint. She has provided PERECT care for me for more than five years. Her procedures are professional, well organized and HIGHLY effective. Please ignore the snowflakes who say that she is rude and or condescending. She is a gifted doctor. A brilliant surgeon. She is not in that position to entertain, to coddle, or to massage your need for sensitive political correctness. She does not provide child or elder daycare (despite what your spoiled, 19 year old "child" says). This professional miracle worker will correct your medical condition, and has neither the time, or the need to massage your feelings or easily bruised emotional well-being. Suck it up Buttercup and recognize a wonderful doctor when you see one!

Worst doctor I've ever seen. Rude, nasty and condescending. Who wants to be berated? Basically called me a liar. She cancelled my original apointment, left me in the waiting room for over an hour. Unprofessional quack. Will not be returning to Lahey hospital ever again.

I am so glad I read the reviews today. I have never left a review for anything but I feel the need to now... My son saw Dr. Biel earlier this week, He is suffering with a pinched nerve. He left pretty annoyed with the way she spoke to us and he was super discouraged. (he's 19) This woman was so arrogant and rude...talked down to us and even spoke badly about another doctor. All of our other doctors are employed by Lahey, and they are all pleasant. This woman has no respect for her patient and does not care to listen. She sat there scrolling thru the MRI saying aloud, "Boring...Boring...Boring...I see nothing that excites me here" She blamed my son for moving during the MRI and therefore she could not see as well as she would like. She just had ZERO bedside manner.

Terrible!!! very rude, condescending as all h*ll, cut us off mid-sentence many times. she was so abrasive I left every visit feeling angry and unheard. Not to mention she made a mistake with my cortisone injection and hit an area that was not meant to be touched she also caused a cortisone flare which left me in double the pain that I already could barely tolerate for 2+ weeks. This woman also told us that "no one would operate" on me because I am young and suffer from chronic pain due to a disc herniation/spinal stenosis when come to find out I may now have permanent nerve damage because I did not seek surgical help sooner. most surgeries should be done within 3 months of pain....it has been 2 years.I am not one to leave a negative review out of spite I genuinely believe if you are searching for a trustworthy understanding Dr she is NOT who you are seeking to find.

Worst Dr ever never will I see her again for anything! I have a lot of respect for Lahey Hospital but she takes the cake why would this Hospital employ such an individual is beyond me. No respect for the patient, Arrogant, talks down to you like your stupid. Given wrong consent form, when in the procedure room I was told and if you think surgery is going to fix arthritis your wrong! Not what I was told I have. Left there very confused don’t know who to believe.

Horrific, horrific doctor: truly, the worst I've ever seen. Rude, lacking knowledge, arrogant (without cause); gave improper diagnosis and said unbelievably incorrect things per two later physicians. Positive reviews are undoubtedly fake--negative reviews are exactly my experience.

My visit was a nightmare! She was angry, barking questions..i.e. "Why are you here ?" Very argumentative, cutting off my answers and her parting shot was "If you don't get this taken care of....you WILL be in a wheelchair." I could not trust her so I went to another neurosurgeon at Lahey.....Dr. Yew....what a difference....a total professional.
