I was a patient of Dr. Whitacre's in 2008 when I had a radical mastectomy. I have no complaints about his bedside manner, however I regret I agreed to a radical mastectomy instead of a modified mastectomy. Also, I remember asking him about breast reconstruction being done at the same time as the mastectomy and his response was "We can talk about that." This is a warning to women who have mastectomies-DON'T HAVE A RADICAL BUT INSTEAD A MODIFED MASTECTOMY AND HAVE RECONSTRUCTION AT THE SAME TIME. Lynn Hergenrader

I am so grateful to Dr. Whitacre and staff for the excellent care during and after surgery. His explanation of the procedure and aftercare was clear and very helpful. He is highly respected by members of the Tucson medical profession and will be missed, as he is retiring soon.
