Dr. Hammerberg took time to explain my surgery to me and expected recovery and results. I cannot say enough good things about my surgery experience, recovery and follow up visits. The follow up visits were informative and I feel Dr. Hammerberg was thorough with me and supportive.

Our experience with Dr. Mark Hammerberg during a consultation for my father’s hip replacement was extremely disappointing. From the moment he entered the room, his demeanor was aggressive and condescending. Without any attempt to ask or clarify, he assumed my father spoke English, which made communication difficult right from the start. Instead of providing helpful information about the hip replacement surgery, which was the purpose of our visit, he rudely commented that we seemed "lost" regarding the procedure. We came specifically to get more information and clarity, but his approach only added confusion and frustration. When we tried to ask questions, he defensively stated that he doesn't deal with "animosity or angry patients," when in fact, his own attitude was the only source of hostility in the room. As healthcare professionals, doctors should be empathetic and respectful, especially during stressful situations like surgery consultations. Unfortunately, Dr. Mark Hammerberg failed in both regards. We left the consultation feeling disrespected and without the necessary information we needed to make an informed decision. I would not recommend Dr. Mark Hammerberg based on this experience.

I am so grateful to have experienced Dr Hammerberg's expertise two times now. He performed my first hip replacement surgery10 years ago and the second one in the past 6 weeks. I definitely recommend him as a skilled and caring surgeon. He has absolutely the best technique for replacement I have seen in comparing my results with others. Thank you, Dr Hammerberg, for restoring my mobility and longevity!

Abrasive and condesending
I met with him to discuss a surgical procedure and found him to be abrasive and condescending. He made me feel uncomfortable about asking questions. I left his office feeling dismissed and I will be looking for another surgeon for the procedure I need to have done. It felt like I was in a "surgery mill". Would not recommend.

A Rare Surgeon
It is true that most people can learn to be a doctor or surgeon if they wish. However, it is extremely rare to have a surgeon who was -quite literally- born to do this particular type of healing. I'm saying he has is an innate Talent that goes beyond the regular-often very qualified- surgeons. Dr E. Mark Hammerberg has this Quality. I call it a Gift. He is naturally in tune with his patients. He immediately assesses his patient's needs both physically and mentally. Amazingly he understands that it's all one in the experience of surgery and healing. There is a connection and passion for the work he does. He listens, he explains, and made me feel important and valued. There was no feeling of being rushed-ever- for the next appointment. And when I walked (unassisted) in to my last post-op checkup-straight, strong, balanced, I could feel his joy. seriously. Not "wow, I a great surgeon" but a delight that what he does truly helps those of us who need it so desperately. I am Grateful.

Never again
Sad to say this guy messed me up big time. Total hip replaced and had to have a revision a few months later. To this day I have a hard time climbing stairs. Its been a few years since the procedure. Physical Therapist said I am permanently disabled as a result failed surgery. I can’t believe he hasn’t lost his license. Stay away from this man. Incompetent at best.

Dr. Hammerberg is a perfectionist and was concerned about making sure I had the best possible outcomes for my bilateral hip replacements. He and his team answered all my questions and were enthusiastic about my recovery. I am delighted with my results and for me the surgeries were life changing. Dr. Hammerberg currently works at Denver Health and has been instrumental in getting me back to work as an RN. My surgeries were out-patient and appropriately done with a spinal and conscious sedation. I highly recommend him for hip replacement and would want my friends and/or family members to have Dr. Hammerberg as their surgeon.

I would highly recommend Dr Hammerberg for your orthopedic needs. He replaced my knee and all through the process he was just what I had hoped for. He, and the entire staff at Rose, made it as "painless" as possible.

great surgeon and the office will take excellent care of you all around. Although, Rose Medical Center really needs to work on their food which makes everything work. It has really gone down hill since my last admission in June 2018. No offense, Dr. Mark!

Dr Hammerberg made me feel extremely comfortable in relationship to my first major surgery.....he took all the time I wanted to answer questions and offer detailed explanations of the procedure and everything to expect before and after. His team was exceptional in their care as well as their knowledge, too. Never having been to Rose, it would be the only place I would recommend, now! I anticipated far more pain then I ever experienced....heat another bonus!

I was experiencing occasional right hip pain, especially when I was doing hip-related stretching exercises, and went to Dr. Hammerberg for an evaluation. His office is very welcoming, and the person at the front desk was friendly and attentive. Dr. Hammerberg spent quite a bit of time with me and performed a thorough investigation. He asked many questions about my hip and listened carefully to the answers. He then took an X-ray and let me know definitively that the cause of my pain was clear—I

Mark is an incredible doctor, surgeon, and human. How many doctors prefer that you call them by their first name? It just speaks to how he views everyone he works with. In my mind, being a brilliant doctor is the cost of entry in his profession. What sets Mark apart is the way her interacts with you. He's smart, friendly, enthusiastic, and incredibly funny. It's disarming, stress relieving, and relaxing. Laughter is the best medicine, after all. I'd recommend mark to everyone. He's a gem.

After a cycling accident I saw Dr Hammerberg. He was thorough, asked great questions, completed a comprehensive exam. He brought up the x-rays and we reviewed them together. He recommended activities/exercises to speed my recovery. He was relaxed and spent a significant amount of time with me, ensuring that all my questions were answered and issues addressed. Highly recommend.
