Chemical Constraints Are Not Care
I strongly advise against Dr. Eric Frechette's care. He prescribed unnecessary psychotropic medications to my elderly father, seemingly as chemical restraints rather than for legitimate medical purposes. This has resulted in likely damage to his kidney, and numerous visible side effects. I further believe Eric Frechette misdiagnosed my father, and ignored a far more detailed diagnosis from a major hospital.

He accepted a diagnosis by his predecessor that turned out to be wrong according to two other neurologists. Meanwhile he reported me to the CA DMV and I almost lost my CA DL. Then, I missed the final appointment because I was traveling and the flights were changed. I was billed for missing an appointment, so I paid rather than appeal. then I was billed a second time for the same missed appointment for twice the amount of the original billing for the same missed appointment that I had paid.

Unfortunately since Dr. Frechette has his own practice I stopped referring other patients to him. He has put in place a lot of rules that as a specialist in neurology that you see a lot of disabled and elderly patients you would think there would be some flexibility. If you are late to your appt even by 5 min. he will refuse to see you. He will not fill out any paperwork during your visit. You need to make a separate appointment, pay another copay/fees. Require 48 hr not 24 for cancellation.

I made an emergency appointment for my daughter who suffers from daily migraines. We were asked to arrive 15 minutes early for what I assumed to turn in paperwork. We arrived at the appointed time with paperwork completed but doctor refused to see us or schedule another appointment even though there was no one waiting in the lobby and we were a referral from a specialist. RUDE!

Was sent to discuss VNS implant after 1 year of seizures not responding to medications. Told me I was going to need a week long hospitalization to go off all my meds (too dangerous to do at home) and likely brain surgery. At my follow up appt he had completely changed his tune. Told me my only problem was stress. Said it was fine to go off my meds at home, alone. Then, bafflingly, suggested LA may be a stressful place for me to live and I may want to move. Completely unethical.

It is difficult to write as Dr. Frechette hung up the phone on me while on speaker phone with him and his office manager Natalie. Very disappointed by the office unwillingness to adjust appointment time for elderly patient. Would not recommend this physician as having a good bedside manner or flexibility.

Had to make an appointment to fill a prescription that he made a mistake on. He then asked me to find another physician if I do not want to come in. I then had to wait another few weeks to schedule and I again did not get the prescription filled. It has been several months, another week and two more phone calls- still waiting for my prescription During my exam, did not recheck an abnormal physical finding from the previous visit until I mentioned it to him, and looked annoyed when I did.
