condescending, dismissive, mean, unprofessional
Dr. Port has a temper and refers to other doctors as 'stupid.' She is completely unprofessional. She is condescending and impatient- it's not ok given patients are in a vulnerable position when they come to her. Her behavior makes a patient feel she is walking on eggshells and cannot ask questions- or else she will be screamed at. Her behavior is reprehensible- this is coming from a health professional who has talked with multiple patients she has made cry. With so many qualified doctors in NYC, I would recommend staying clear.

Knows her stuff!
I found her very easy to talk to. A few people said she was difficult to communicate with. I think I know why. I am in a profession that values fast, fact-based communication. This is exactly what Dr. Port gives. To me, she was clear, factual, and easy to understand. I think that if you aren't comfortable with that style and want someone who will take the time to listen to you think things through (a reasonable desire), she might not be for you. But I'll take her brilliance and precision any day. I love her!

Not recommended
Dr. Elisa Port was one of several doctors I visited for a consultation. I found her to be rude, dismissive and insensitive. She has no idea how to talk to patients, and has no interest in a patient's thoughts or feelings. After asking a simple question, she snapped at me and refused to answer. She seems very intent on promoting herself and the Dubin Center, so I question the motivation behind her advice. Even if she was the best surgeon in NYC, I would not use her for my surgery, because I want a surgeon who cares about her patients and takes the time to address her patients' concerns. I felt like I wasn't important to her and was just another patient taking up her valuable time. Before I could even say goodbye to her, she had turned her back and walked out the door.

Not easy to talk to and appointments are rushed
Dr Port treated me for stage 1 breast cancer. I had a lumpectomy but also needed chemo. She initially thought the cancer was only DCIS so I was surprised after her biopsy showed it was more aggressive. She sent me to an oncologist at Dubin but never explained why she was doing it. I was crying during the appointment. She rushed out of the room.

Dr Port and the Dubin Center team are the best!
Amazing team of people. Everyone from Dr. Port to Dr. Tiersten and everyone treated my wife with respect and compassion. The surgery and Oncology team, and the radiation team under Dr. Green had a wonderful way about them. They explained everything in detail and made my wife comfortable with the process. From holding her hand during the tough times to check in on her after surgery, it was such a positive experience for a terrible diagnosis. We can easily recommend the Dubin Breast center at Mount Sinai to anyone! My wife had a good outcome and a great prognosis. We feel blessed.

Avoid Mount Sinai
Dr. Port is very knowledgeable and communicates directly and clearly. I did not find her calming but because she came highly recommended, I had her do my double mastectomy. Dr. Port never visited me post-surgery and the post-surgical care at Mount Sinai was shocking. In the post-op ICU, I waited 45 minutes for someone to come after pushing my button. When I moved into a room, there was dried blood all over it that was never cleaned. The nurses had no idea how to find my vein and left me so bruised that I could not lift my left arm. In short, my experience at Mount Sinai Hospital made an already upsetting experience more traumatic.

Patient
Dr. Port is an excellent doctor. A senior executive at a large breast cancer research group recommended her, the best source for a recommendation. She lived up to the recommendation. She is extremely knowledgeable, but calm and explains the diagnosis in easily understandable terms. She is straight forward and involves the patient in the discussion, never lecturing or dictating.I barely waited to see her and her office assisted me throughout efficiently and professionally in what is inherently a stressful process. The surgery started almost at the set time and she did such highly professional work during the surgery, if I have a scar it will be barely visible. I cannot recommend her highly enough as a surgeon and doctor. A very positive experience.

Dr. Port is a skilled surgeon yet she is condescending, dismissive and does not like being questioned . She trashes any doctor that doesn’t work in Dubinsky Breast Center. I had DCIS twice and was never offered meds that might have prevented reoccurring. I am now seeing a new breast surgeon and medical oncologist and feel safe and well taken care of . She put me through hell emotionally for nine weeks . She has a G-d complex and woe to anyone who questions her . I’m so glad I left Dubin Breast Center.

I am profoundly grateful to be under Dr. Port's care. Her calming, positive, warm, knowledgeable presence helped me through the most terrifying and upsetting time of my life. I will be forever grateful to her and cannot recommend her highly enough. She communicates clearly and patiently (I was so afraid, I know I asked her the same questions repeatedly). I have never felt so cared-for by a doctor - ever. Thank you, Dr. Port!

I have never written a review of a doctor before, but Dr. Port is so special I feel like I need to! Honestly, she is amazing. She is kind, caring and sensitive, yet very practical and honest. She is a skilled surgeon, and I have never felt so taken care of by a doctor before. Being diagnosed with breast cancer is never fun, but feeling like you have the best care ever makes it much better. Dr. Port is a superstar, and I feel extremely lucky to be her patient!!

NEGATIVE experience, get second opinion!Rushed, insensitive, patronizing bedside-manner.Threatened by other expert's opinion. Many scheduling oversights and delays: highlight 2-hr wait at surgery admissions as Dubin Center didn't forward clearance, no beeper! Had couple questions before OR, she handled publically! Callous path result delay! Major post-op complications for simplest of surgeries, striking failure to follow-up with timeliness or caring. However R.N. Lynn and P.A. Deborah excellent!

Truly a caring, warm hearted doctor. I trust her with my life. As simple as that. Since the very first meet, I knew I was at the best hands. Dr Port has been treating me for stage 2 breast cancer. I had a bilateral mastectomy and lymph node removal, she is amazing. I couldn't ask to be treated by a better dr. I trust her decisions completely.
