Dr. Elijah Verheyen, MD

Dr. Verheyen had carefully reviewed some medical issues I had that were in his area of expertise before our first meeting and he recommended some diagnostic options. I was impressed with his research in my medical history to give some perspective on my concerns. I had to reschedule my colonoscopy twice and his office was very accommodating and also made sure I had clear instructions for the preparation. He spoke to me before the procedure to answer any questions I might have and to allay any concerns. I had no negative side effects after the colonoscopy, both he and nurses from his office contacted me to make sure. One of the best experiences I have had with a doctor.

I had a colonoscopy last week at Marin Gastroenterology. Dr. Verheyen and his team were outstanding. I highly recommend Dr. Verheyen and the facility.

Dr. Verheyen has done both a colonoscopy and an endoscopy with me in the past year at The Endoscopy Center of Marin. Both procedures went well and I was physically and emotionally comfortable with everything, even though I can easily get anxious around hard core medical experiences. Dr. Verheyen has a calm, compassionate manner, takes the time to listen, and returns messages in MyChart shockingly quickly. He made two procedures that can feel extremely stressful and gross unexpectedly easy. I hope he continues to work in Marin as I would happily seek his care again for any future GI issues.

Recently I had a colonoscopy at Marin Gastroenterology. Dr. Verheyen and his team were outstanding. I highly recommend Dr. Verheyen for any GI care.

The staff contradicted the Dr. they ignored what I wrote and called to say for 3 weeks so I had to cancel a CT scan . Dr is patronizing at best.

Dr Verheyen is highly skilled and thoughtful. He saw me through a rough diagnosis with grace and kind support. I am very grateful to have found him. I can not recommend him highly enough

Once he stepped into the room and he looked like his photo (and not a 20 year earlier photo) the foundation of trust was laid down. His understanding of my fears and his caring manner combined with explanations of what was involved I knew I was in safe hands to go ahead with the procedure that was needed. It is all behind me now and I can relax knowing the results. I can't recommend him more highly.

Dr. Verheyen helped me navigate an issue I was having and made me feel comfortable every step of the way. He was a true professional and gave me confidence that I was in the right place and doing the right things. He ultimately performed a colonoscopy which isn't always a pleasant experience, but he made it as painless as possible. I left feeling grateful for his help and am glad to have him as my doctor.

Dr Verheyen is one of those rare doctors who is dedicated to diagnosing your digestive health. For many years I went undiagnosed for pancreatitis until I saw Dr. Verheyen. He is intelligent, kind-hearted and really cares about his patients. I trust him with my health.

What I like about Dr. Verheyen is that he takes the time to explain my condition in a language that I can understand. He is approachable and accessible, which are hard to find qualities these days. I am glad to have him in my corner.

Dr Verheyen has been been wonderful from day one. A rare gift in the wide medical community. He is calm, present, understanding, thoughtful, gentle, communicative, responsive, and explains things in a way that is clear. As a patient he works with you so that you can participate in your care and together, form a long term plan. As someone who unfortunately has had some heath issues from a young age I’ve had to navigate the system and I appreciate when I find someone like Dr Verheyen. I feel very lucky to be his patient and hope to work with him for the rest of my life. It’s nice to feel like an individual rather than a number sometimes even though I understand why it is the way it is. Gut stuff can be really embarrassing to talk about and can prevent people from even doing to the Dr. Dr Verheyen is above and behind what I could have wished for. So very grateful to have found him.
