Dr. Elias Amador, MD

I was in Bethesda West for MS and my arm and legs were not working properly.I take regular medicine for my back surgeries pain for 30 years.He ran in my room for less than 15 seconds and I mentioned my medications and he interrupted me and told the nurse to give me TYL.. not allowed to mention the OTC med. He ran out and I had to yell at him that I wasn’t finished talking. He was gone! So I was starting to go through withdrawals from not getting the meds that I have been on for 30 years due to six spinal cord surgeries for a tumor. No one cared about that! I had to call my husband to bring me my medicine and I checked myself out of there. I would never recommend him to anyone and if he ever comes to see me in any hospital I am demanding a different DR. He is just plain rude and doesn’t care about people. Seems like he ran in to get his money from my insurance and that was it. Of course I didn’t expect him to show his face on this website!!!

This doctor will give you results as he’s leaving. Spends no time at all with you! He actually spoke through the bathroom door and wouldn’t wait until I was done. He said he has other patients to see and he left. Would you believe that a nurse from hospice came in to see if I was ready for hospice. Imagine, he didn’t even mention that he was going to do this. He has no right to send hospice to me. My oncologist is the one who should recommend hospice when I’m ready. He has no compassion and certainly doesn’t spend any time with patient!

He saw my husband in the hospital for a total of maybe five minutes over three days. He decided my husband had severe dementia without considering anything else even though we had information that would question that diagnosis. We also learned that one of the medications my husband was taking could have been a huge influence on his condition but dr. Amatory wouldn’t consider that. I would not recommend him to anyone.

He was the hospitalist for my dad, who is 91 years old, and his main interest was for me to make a decision about how he (my dad) leaves us. He (Dr. Elias Amador) is very unprofessional, calling me stubborn because I would not tell him what he wanted to hear. I would not recommend him to my least favorite person. Displayed unempathetic/uncaring mannerisms and based on our interaction, I do not trust him.
