We tried a few. She was the best.
We found it challenging to find a psychiatrist and had a few nightmare scenarios. Dr. Bazelon has been exceptional. She spends time with my son during visits and showed genuine compassion during a time of crisis. I would highly recommend her.

I’ve used Dr.Bazelon since I was 12 and I’m 36 now. So just the fact that I’ve stayed with her for so long speaks for itself. She has gone above and beyond for me in dealing w my mental issues.

She has been really supportive in a crisis, and has made herself available for emergency situations. She is also familiar with HIPPA, and knows what information she is allowed to gather from family members, while many other providers are easily confused by these laws. I am a family member of her patient and I don't think we could handle this crisis without her. She has been great and supportive and responds to all our voicemails within a timely fashion. I'm only taking off a star because it's taken a lot of back and forth to get a plan together for options for treatment for our family member. It might just be the broken mental health system, and the difficulty of dealing with this diagnosis, not her, but just getting information about what to expect and the care plan with a new diagnosis seems to be harder than it needs to be.

Notice how all the reviews are 1 star or 5 star? In my view, this simply reflects how clients receive therapy. Unlike most psychiatrists these days, Dr. Bazelon doesn’t just “do meds”; she also wades into your issues and needs. If you just want drugs, she may not be your best choice. But if you want to see someone who wants to hear and see you, while prescribing meds, by all means meet with her and firm your own judgment. I have found Dr. Bazelon to be kind, thoughtful and available (especially in times of crisis). Psychoemotional struggle is hard. But it’s easier with her on your side, in my experience. Good luck
