Amazing surgeon!
I had a severe condition through my spine which generated excruciating pain. I had several opinions from spine specialists in different cities. Many wouldn’t attempt the procedure as it was extremely complicated. I finally met with Dr Truumees and he explained in detail how he would proceed with the surgery in layman terms and with confidence. I had a T-9 to my pelvis fusion and the pain has been eliminated. I do have some limited range of motion, but it has only been 6 months since the surgery and everyday I am feeling some improvement. Great staff and follow up, easy to communicate with either through the portal or via email.

Preop care
Dr. Truumees is an extremely caring, thorough physician. He is conservative in his approach to the problem, not quick to advise surgery. He is a professor at Dell and has resident physicians that rotate through and evaluate the case with him to discuss care. All have been great except the last one who was very abrupt and also her physical exam included poking that really hurt (not the norm with this office). Her patient care could definitely improve with better people skills. Would highly recommend Dr. Truumees and his regular office staff.

Excellent Surgeon
Dr. T took the time to thoroughly explain my options, the procedures, what recovery would look like. He really helped educate my husband & I on the entire process before I made a significant decision. His PAs & nurses are also kind & excellent. Dr. T’s entire team took great care of me.

After interviewing four surgeons, Dr T was it!
Dr T spent nearly 45 minutes patiently assessing my case and answering questions. He was able to explain why in my specific case, a particular surgical approach was most appropriate. His office staff and professional staff were extremely supportive both pre and post op. I felt fully supported, even on weekends, with post op issues.

Initial visit
Dr. Truumees was very professional and kind. He provided a detailed explanation as what to expect regarding surgery. He pulled up my MRI and x-ray results, showing me where my problem existed. DR. Truumees has a sense of humor which I feel is very important when you're providing care to the public. I believe we spent an hour or more discussing and answering all questions. His staff are kind and knowledgeable.

Excellent Surgeon/Wonderful Doctor
Dr. Truumees’ excellent reputation is well deserved. My consultations with him as to the issues I was facing were enlightening, encouraging and unhurried. He always suggested the least invasive procedures - never surgery. I like him because he speaks openly and without condescension- even when asked really stupid questions. Without exception, every time I told another doctor that I was seeing Dr. Truumees that information was met with respectful nods of approval.

Outstanding, Humble Physician & Medical Team
Dr. Truumees and his team (Sara, Ariel & Monica) have consistently been honest, respectful, compassionate, patient and genuinely kind. They have also shown concern for my emotional & mental health since Day 1. Since my first office visit, he's listened to all my concerns, answered all my questions and educated me about my particular spine. In May 2022, Dr. Truumees surgically corrected errors made by another neurosurgeon affecting my cervical spine. I fractured my thoracic spine at home in June 2022 from a syncope episode (3 wks after he'd performed the cervical surgery), and he and his team were outstanding in getting me in for surgery ASAP and getting all the hospital & follow-up care I needed. Dr. Truumees also spotted a serious bone condition that a 1/2 dozen other physicians had not despite my continuously telling them that I was worried about my bones. I am 100% happy & thankful that I have the privilege of having Dr. Truumees and his exceptional team as "my"spine experts.

ruumees performed ACDF Surgery on me in January 2020. Prior to surgery I asked him about effects on my larynx because I am a classically trained singer. I was told that likely there would be swelling for several weeks. After the swelling subsides, he assured me there should be no problem. After waiting a couple of months I tried vocalizing only to discover that the upper register of my voice was gone. I could go up to an F1 and the voice ceased to function at all. After a couple of consultations I was assured the surgery was fine. I was finally referred to an ENT specialist. This specialist discovered there was damage to a nerve connecting one of the vocal folds that controls my upper register. The fold was shrunk to the point the upper register simply did not phonate. When I was finally able to speak with Truumees, he tried to pass it off as a problem with the anesthesiologist and not the surgery. The ENT has twice done injections into the larynx in an effort to improve th

This Dr. damaged nerves in my spine while performing fusion surgery (L5S1). He did not tell either my husband or myself this occurred. The day after I was discharged while Googling symptoms I was having, I realized I probably had Cauda Equina Syndrome. He had written an article on CES's "red flags" but refused to acknowledge that anything was wrong with me. After 2 months, I left. A spinal cord injury specialist did diagnose CES. My life as planned is over due to his negligence.
