Uncaring and dismissive of chronic pain
Dr. Eellan Sivanesan seeking help for full-body Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS), a condition I’ve battled for 17 years. I drove 2.5 hours, hoping for support and solutions, but was met with a dismissive and uncaring attitude.Dr. Sivanesan was short in his responses and showed little empathy for my struggles or lack of quality of life, despite my having tried numerous treatments over the years. He claimed I had exhausted all options and suggested an inpatient treatment program requiring weeks to months away from my daughter—an unrealistic option for many.He also stated that pain medication is only for cancer patients or those who are dying, which felt dismissive and invalidating. To make matters worse, he walked away while I was still speaking to him.Dr. Sivanesan’s cold and callous demeanor made an already difficult situation worse. I would not recommend him to anyone suffering from chronic pain.
