Terrific
I am really surprised by the negative reviews. I have found Dr Abernathy and his staff great. He is easy to get in to see, has reviewed your chart before visits, listens and helps chart out a course of action. I have done tele visits and in person

Would not ever go to him again
Did not listen did not even try to understand my situation. Lectured and talked down to me from the moment he stepped in the room. Did not even ask me why I was there. Belittled previous diagnosis and treatment plan. Was rude and uncaring. Offered no solutions. I left the appointment crying.

He does not accept questions or inquiries very well. Very pompous and “know-it-all”. Does not like anyone refusing treatment or asking for other options. I recently saw him for asthma-related treatment and instead of following the already-set protocol I had, he decided I “did not know how asthma worked” and refused to prescribe my emergency inhaler for my severe asthma. I will never be going back or recommending him.

I am a health care professional and am very critical of those in the in this field. Dr Abernethy displays all the positive characteristics that an excellent internal medicine physician should possess. His vast knowledge of all maladies that his patients would present is extraordinarily complete! Of equal importance is the seemingly unlimited time he spends getting to know his patients and their individual personal needs. Dr. Abernethy epidomizes the family doctor who sincerely cares for his patient's needs.

I recently had my annual wellness exam with Dr Abernethy. I am a retired nurse practitioner and have worked with many Doctors. I can honestly say Dr. Abernethy is an exceptional physician who brings genuine interest and casual ease to the room. He spent a solid hour with me, conducted a thorough interview and appropriate exam. He made decisions based on my personal history and we were in complete agreement with my plan of care. It is truly refreshing to find a Doctor with his easy disposition, well rounded knowledge/expertise and who I trust. I have recommended him to many of our friends and all have returned with the same satisfaction. I strongly recommend Dr. Abernethy and hope he stays in Frisco for a very long time.

Dr Abernethy was my primary care physician for several years when I lived in Summit County, Colorado. I found him to be an excellent practitioner, always ready to discuss my conditions and provide explanations of what was wrong and how the treatments would help. I would happily recommend him to any friend or family member.

You have no idea how great it is to finally find a doctor that doesn’t make you feel crazy for having a list of crazy symptoms, just helps to find answers... Dr. Abernethy is fantastic... I’ve never felt more comfortable with another doctor, and I’ve never trusted a doctor as much as I trust this man... If all doctors had the patience and will to solve puzzzles and mysteries of the human body like this man, the world would be a better place!

Dr. Abernethy is a very knowledgeable and competent physician. He answers all of my questions and takes the time necessary to address all of my concerns. He also explains things fully so that I understand. He doesn't order a lot of unnecessary tests, etc. He also promptly renews prescription requests and answers my questions via the Centura Health online system.

He's nice enough until god forbid you ask a question or have a concern about his course of treatment. Also his office is incompetent and can't fill a prescription. I called several times and after several weeks they still hadn't filled the prescriptions creating a dangerous situation. Finally I just went to a new doctor. After I went to a new doctor his office cancelled my other scripts without telling me creating another dangerous situation. I wouldn't recommend Abernathy or his office at all.
