condesending
Honestly, I left pretty confused about what happened during the appointment. In a way I felt gaslit because he was so dismissive and seemed almost in incensed at the treatment I had sought to alleviate HR in my big toe. I came to him for a second opinion after a PT recommended him. The doctor that was assisting him checked her apple watch more than a couple times - which was off putting when I was explaining how hard it was loosing the mobility in my toe. . I felt weirdly better seeing his reviews - I guess you either get a great version of this doctor or one that wants to talk more than listen and is easy to dismiss what you are saying. I definitely got the version that seems like he has better places to be with little empathy for your condition. Needless to say, won't be seeking treatment with him and will go somewhere other than TOSH.

Loved Dr. Van Boerum
Dr. Van Boerum was great. He listened me and spent a lot of time talking to me. I felt like he was not at all rushed and had all the time in the world to talk about my injury. The surgery went great and recovery was as expected, pretty painful for two weeks, but elevation above the heart and ice helped so much.

Horrible. He told me to “shut up about your neuroma!” Rude I should have walked out then but I let him talk me into a procedure I didn’t need (mid foot fusion after I went to him for a hammertoe). The unnecessary surgery messed my foot up totally and I needed another surgeon to come in and repair my extremely painful foot. He should lose his license in mho. TOSH is ruing their reputation with this guy.

Appalling, lack of visit. No interest, interaction and he seemed to be IDK-bothered that I was there for an appointment. I felt mistreated, no interaction certainly no treatment, care or assessment

He was very rude and could have cared less about our concerns. I have always had a great experience with other doctors at TOSH….but this guys totally ruined it for me.

I completely love Dr Van Boerum. Due to COVID-19 restrictions my surgery was canceled at the last minute due to my body type. Van Boerum got on the phone and called everyone he could think of to get my surgery done. The end result we were only delayed 24 hours and had to do it in a different surgical center with no complications. ??????

I had a car accident which damaged my ankle pretty bad. The surgeon who did my external fixation recommended me to Dr. Van Boerum who operated on my broken ankle successfully. Dr. Van Boerum is an excellent surgeon.

My interaction with Dr. Van Boerum was poor. He was condescending and rude. Definitely would not recommend. TOSH has historically been a great place for excellent service. This doctor was a terrible disappointment. I will not go back to him.

He may be the best surgeon in the State, but I am not going to give him the chance to prove it to me. He was very flippant about how much pain I am having. He told me I should just change careers and acted like I was not important enough for him to worry about performing surgery on because of my career choice. The staff ordered a expensive MRI, prior to me going to the appt. Then he refused to look at it and took x-rays instead. Worse than Army doctors I've seen and that is not said lightly.

I had already been to a Podiatrist and went to him for a second opinion and he was wrong about his diagnosis. He spent little time, acted like my foot pain was not a big enough deal. I would not recommend this doctor.

I went to see him for a 2nd opinion. i waited almost 2 hours to see him and when he entered the room he was put out that I was there for a 2nd opinion. He never looked at my x-rays. We discussed different options of therapy. He was extremely rude when I told him that the tens ultrasound treatment had helped, he said it doesn't work. He wouldn't perscribe anti-inflammatory med. it was the worst doctors appt I have ever gone to. He maybe a great surgeon but his bedside was terrible.
