Bring back Dr Root!
Took my 2yrs old for wellness/milestone visit. Thankful the wait wasn’t long. It was late in the day, so my son was already on edge/cranky, he refused to stand on the scale or get height measured. Dr Bierma showed no interest in getting to know us or how we were doing. Former patients of Dr. Root, who left Duly, so I don’t know if it was a feeling of just having to pick up the patients(?). Dr Bierma saw us (looked at the computer) for 2-3 mins and walked out of the room. No one came back to even tell us we were good to go. We waited in the room for about 10 mins before I walked out. Bring back Dr Root! He was fun with the kids and ensured parents were also doing well. He had conversations and bedside manner that was fantastic! He knew my son is anxious at appts, he brought light toys to calm him and make checking him a much easier process than just force holding him down for 30 secs to check his diaper and say “yep still a boy” like Dr Bierma did.

Dr. Bierma's office allegedly canceled our appointment, even though I never received a message. With my entire family there I was told I could book an appointment for over a month later. Dr. Bierma came out and told me it was my fault I booked the appointment wrong online and there was nothing he could do. No apology was ever given. It was already an emotional appointment as we were there to discuss my son's deficits and this made it horrible!

Complicated. This is my 20 month old son's doctor. My son's mom lives with her husband, their 3 kids, and my son. I brought proof, directly from my son's mom, that her husband beat one of his own children, who is also a patient of this same doctor. Undeniable proof. The doctor said nothing...did nothing. The doctor even treated the abused child for concussion like symptoms. But still...no questions, no reports, no action taken...not even a comment. He is neglecting his oaths and duties as a doctor. He put personal feelings ahead of a child's welfare.

While Dr. Bierma has his degree and I don't I'm writing this review strictly based on experience dealing with him and his office. 1-the front desk assistants are always rude, never kind and have an attitude. If you don't like your job don't take it out on parents who are 99% of the time dealing with sick little ones. 2 -The wait times are absolutely ridiculous. I have 3 kids under 4. That's a lot of "wellness" visits. Never one time have we been seen within 20-30 minutes of our appt.

We have had our son at 3 pediatricians and Dr. Boerma has been by far the best. We have a daughter with ADD\ADHD and a son with Gluten /Dairy and egg allergy. He has been understanding and sympathetic and very helpful. He has been an absolute God Send.

I love dr. Bierma. He is so knowledgeable about everything, down to earth and explains everything so you understand. My son loves him and he is not a fan of doctors. He's worth the hour and half drive! He's the kind of doctor all doctors should be.

Dr. Bierma is a knowledgeable medical professional. However, since being bought out by DuPage Medical group everything has been a hassle. Wait times were longer while the staff was adjusting to the new system. Since June, trying to get an appointment is a joke. They called me a week before my childs scheduled well visit exam to cancel & couldn't reschedule for a month, if you call for an emergency or to make an appointment it is at least a 15 minute wait on hold, plus they refer you elsewhere.

Dr. Bierma does not investigate medical problems. He will continue to throw drugs at issues and hopes the problem will go away. He actively discourages getting a second opinion from a doctor outside of the Joliet/Shorewood area. If asked questions, like, why does my child need this drug?, he deflects and won't answer the questions. He gets angry with an educated parent. Do not see this doctor.

This site states that Dr. Bierma is accepting new patients. It also states all the different insurance plans he accepts. I just tried to make a new patient appointment, which was going to be fine until we got to the insurance question. I stated it was for 2 foster kids who have the state's insurance plan. At that point she backtracked and said they are no longer accepting any new patients and that they only accept Blue Cross from now on.

Terrible doctor. Rushed us out of the room. He was arrogant. He didn't allow us to speak. He talked over us. And he was insincere. I highly discourage people from taking their children to this doctor.
