Nothing but THE BEST! My son had a compound fracture and instead of waiting for other staff to wheel his bed to surgery, Dr. Avella released the bed and took him himself. He was very open and honest about what could happen and what he was going to try and do. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

He left hardware in my ankle after surgery and only acknowledged (and REALIZED) this mistake years after surgery when I came to him with chronic pain. He laughed about it.

My daughter fractured her wrist and i took her to the urgent pediatric care for xrays, brace and saw the pediatrician, she said to follow up with a pediatric orthopedic so i made an appointment with Dr Avella. I waited about 45 minutes to see him after filling out a book worth of documents, including a page that asked to give a credit card information incase you don't pay your bill(now i get it), which i thought was odd because i have insurance. My daughter literally saw the doctor 5 minutes, i bought the x-ray from the urgent care for him to see and she had a brace on her arm already from the urgent care too. He looked at the xray, examined her arm and told me to stop wearing the brace in 2 weeks and gave her a soft ball to exercise her hand. that was it, no xray , no brace, no manipulation nothing at all. I received by EOB and they are billing me $325 for office visit plus get this $2380 for a global billing code for broken arm.! They were rude and fraudulent ! never would refer!!!

Waited a long time to see Dr Avella. My son needed shoulder surgery. Since he was 17 and leaving for college Dr Avella suggested we go see an adult orthopedist. We were upset and disappointed but left after our 5 minute visit with him. Literally. When I then got a bill for over 200 .00 for nothing I couldn't believe it. I called the billing department and got to speak to his wife who threatened to call collections if I didnt pay. I told her to do what she needed to do. She proceeded to charge my credit card for the amount instead. Shady practice , rude staff...she went to speak Dr Avella and he also agreed I should be charged?? Really ? What doctor do you go to that tells you they can't or won't help you and still charges you? Shame on you Dr Avella. You have lost your common sense and decency. Beware.

Dr. Avella was very thorough and informative, however the front desk was a different story. The lady I dealt with was ubrupt and somewhat rude in a helpful sort of way. Then I sat back and noticed the proud, arrogant parents they had to deal with and understood why they were so cold towards me. One impatient father kept walking around me attempting to get noticed while I was handing her my insurance information. Like dude, can you wait like I did? He was seen then calmly walked out. No rush.

My daughter fractured her femur at a soccer game.at 7:30pm Went to valley hospital and found Dr Avella. Absolute gentleman! Explained what was going to happen. Set myself and wife at ease including my daughter (the patient). Set it in place and came back to preform surgery at 3:30 am. Thanks doc. Going for follow up tomorrow. We have been using Dr. Avella since before our son was born (now 9). He sat with us and explained what our son's bilateral clubfoot would be like. Nine years later and he is our doctor still. He has performed 3 surgeries and we trust him implicitly. Our son probably needs one last surgery but Dr. Avella has been waiting it out as to not over correct it. He is a gem! More doctors should be as loving and caring as he is.

My daughter injured her elbow at 8:30 pm on a Thursday. The ER took x-rays,diagnosed it as a bone chip, wrapped her arm and sent us home. She was up all night with UNBEARABLE PAIN. Dr. Avella saw us immediately the next morning and he saw what was really happening looking at the same x-rays. She had bone and nerve damage from a dislocated elbow that popped back in wrong! Thank you Dr. Avella! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS SPECIALIST!
