CABG
Today is the twelfth anniversary of my CABG performed by Dr. Thomas. Explained everything beforehand and the next day he did his magic. Excellent surgeon.

My husband recently had triple bypass surgery at St. John's Hospital in Oxnard. All three arteries were 90 % blocked. This is a fantastic doctor and surgeon and we felt complete confidence in his abilities -- he explained everything and showed pictures of what happened, and as promised, kept me updated when he said he would. My husbands outcome is going smoothly and there were no complications. Dr. Thomas the heart surgeon that other doctors will refer their family and friends to, so I can't think of a better endorsement than that!

I had a aortic valve stenosis from a congenital defect, along with an aortic aneurysm. Dr Thomas explained in lay terms what the diagnosis meant, what corrective surgery was required, and answered all my questions. He was very frank and also upbeat and encouraging. I am 57 and greatful for his surgical, and people skills. I felt confident in his care, and his staff was extremely personable, helpful, and professional. I highly recommend Dr. Thomas, and my family and I appreciated his down to earth manner and expertise.

I was admitted to Sparrow with chest pain. I had a heart cath which demonstrated 3 blocked arteries. The cardiologist told me that he could stent these blockages (I had a heart attack in 2010 and had 4 stents as a result, one of which was almost totally blocked), but encouraged me to talk with a surgeon about bypass. Dr Thomas explained the pros and cons of the situation to me and my wife and recommended bypass surgery. We decided to follow Dr. Thomas’s recommendation and it was the best decision I have ever made. I cannot say enough kind things about Dr. Thomas, his surgical skills, his bedside manner and the wonderful care I received at Sparrow. Five weeks later and I am pretty much back to normal. I feel truly blessed to have had Dr. Thomas perform my surgery. I recommend him highly.

After having an echocardiogram, I was diagnosed by the Sparrow TCI team with a myxoma (tumor) in my left atrium. Dr Thomas took the time to review everything with me, showing me the tumor on the echocardiogram and explaining the process to remove it. Dr Thomas is a highly skilled cardiac surgeon and the surgery was successful. I am 4 weeks post surgery and feeling great!

I recently experienced a heart attack and was told I had 90% blockage and needed bypass surgery. Dr. Donald Thomas performed the Triple bypass. I have complete confidence in recommending Dr. Donald Thomas MD as the surgeon to use for open Heart surgery. His staff is also to be complimented. They all have a wonderful bedside manner, very friendly, very ex-planetary as to what was needed, the risks, the procedures, precautions to take after the operation. I feel I'm blessed that they were available for me. Thank you!!

He explained himself fully and assured me the surgery would go well and reassured me not to worry. He was extremely confident and was very pleasant to talk with. He answered all my questions pre-surgery and on my follow-up visit, he was extremely thorough in my examination and answered all of my question. He talked to me; not down to me and made sure I understood what the next steps in my recovery process were.

Absolutely top notch care. Performed bypass surgery that was very successful and I experienced a very rapid recovery, getting home five days after. Took the time to explain everything that was going to happen in detail and even had a PowerPoint presentation on his phone to walk me through every step. Very honest on the pros and cons.

Dr. Thomas was extraordinary! He was more than I could have ever asked for in a doctor. He was attentive, explained things thoroughly and in a manner which was easily grasped. Dr. Thomas helped me to make informed decisions based on my particular heart problems. I was never made to feel like I had been belittled or patronized. Dr. Thomas made certain that all my questions, concerns, and fears had been thoroughly addressed in our time together. The surgery went perfect and I'm very happy!

Dr. Thomas replaced my Aortic valve in 2015. The experience was the most positive I could have imagined under the circumstances. Dr. Thomas was communicative, open about the procedure and he promotes the most advanced techniques available. I am going back to him when my pig valve needs replacement in 10+ years!!

Dr. Thomas is a personal friend and as such has recently given me support through a health scare that involved 4 blood clots in my lungs. He was generous with his knowledge and kind and caring in helping my husband and me during my recovery and getting through the emergency room procedures. I have also seen these caring tendencies in all aspects of our friendship. I would not hesitate to ask for Dr. Thomas to be my doctor in any emergency or planned surgery.
