I was at deaths door when I met doctor Porter. He told me see what we could do to improve my situation, but to get my affairs in order just in case. That was 18 years ago. Between his knowledge, and my stubborn force of will, we managed to get me quite a bit of extra time and enjoyment out of life. Wish more doctors were like him. And now, apparently hes retired, right when I could use his blunt forthrightness again. Doc.. You made a difference.

I attribute my improved health over the last year to simply following Dr Porter’s advice: eat right, eat less, exercise, lose weight. Something in his delivery worked for me.

Dr Porter has a no nonsense, straight forward bedside manner which I find refreshing. He tells it like it is and this is off putting to patients used to doctors who sugar coat or downplay the responsibility the patient has in being knowledgeable about their condition and role they must play in the improvement or stabilization of it. If you're not willing to hear the truth, no matter how ugly it may be, don't choose Dr Porter. Patricia L. Jones

×Post a ResponseAre you Dr. Porter?
Dr. Porter has poor interpersonal skills. Throughout my time with him, he was condescending and dismissive of any input I offered, apparently a strategy to cut off any questions or observations. I have little trust in his ability to truly listen to his patients. Even explaining how to use a prescribed medication, it felt like he was talking down to me. I have no concerns about Dr. Porters medical qualifications, but would not recommend him if you want a partner in health, not a medical autocrat.
