Dr. Desiree Casasnovas-Lopez, MD

I have been going to the Villages Neurology for more than five years. I have seen four different doctors in the practice and Doctor Casasnovas-Lopez is by far the worst. When I went to see her three months ago for an injection that I get every three months for migraines, she did not want to give me the injection. She was clearly annoyed and stepped out of the room to arrange for the injections. She returned 10-15 minutes later. I received a phone call during that time from a doctor about an unrelated issue, and she told me I had to get off the phone because she didn’t have a lot of time. When I got home, I tried to switch to another doctor in the practice (but he is not taking any new patients). When she found out about this, she decided to drop me as a patient. I had an appointment scheduled with her for this morning and when I got a text message at 9 AM confirming my 11:30 appointment with her, I assumed all was well. When I arrived, I was told the appointment had been canceled.

My 3 visits with this doctor appeared to be going well. I was pleased with her varied approaches to my incorrigible migraines, warmth and caring so I thought….My headaches persisted.On the recommendation of my primary doctor, I saw another neurologist during Dr Lopez’s long absence as I was in pain. Upon learning this, Dr C-Lopez was filled with resentment and accused me of “doctor shopping.” My detailed explanation of this matter in a later email to her was ignored. She dropped me from the practice like a hot potato with no warning. This is just as well and a relief to finished with her duplicitous behavior.

Dr. Lopez listens and takes an active role in my health. I'm very pleased. She was pro-active to help obtain referrals and even followed up to see if the referral resulted in an appt. I'm seeing her regularly and she's very good to have in my corner.

Dr. Casanovas-Lopez deserves ZERO stars, along with everyone else at Leon Medical Centers, unfortunately this site does not allow that. A terrible physician with an offensive bedside manner. She has no compassion for her patients and their families. Dr. Casanovas-Lopez was prescribing a medication that has to be checked regularly for levels in the blood to my father, and was telling us to give it "as needed". We mentioned sight and vision problems, and all of our concerns were ignored, we had to ask for a second opinion elsewhere. Never did I ever see Dr. Casanovas-Lopez even do a Neuro assessment on my father. She is terrible and I wouldn't want any other family to be under her care.

Dr. Casasnovas have excellent bedside manners. Her knowledge is palpable and she explain everything in a way I can understand.
