Unprofessional and Arrogant
I had a visit with Dr. Hill about a knee and ankle injury. After insisting on a deeper diagnosis to rule out surgery rather than a Prescription and a 'wait and see', he told me I was most likely imagining the issue. Then going on to suggest I could probably move past it without doing anything. All of this was spoken in an arrogant and sarcastic tone while we had never even met before. I even pointed out his behavior in the room, because I was confused where this was coming from. The PA and tech were standing there silent and clearly embarrassed not knowing what to say. After filing a formal complaint that turns out went un-filed he then proceeded to text my personal phone number unannounced to try and clear the air and apologizing for being adversarial. He then finished by trying to reassure me that 'from now on we will be on the same team' as if that is something to be earned rather than expected. 4months on and injuries are the same.-1 out of 10Avoid this doctor and clinic

Exceptional!
I recently had the pleasure of undergoing hip replacement surgery with Dr. Hill, and let me tell you, this doctor is the Picasso of hip surgery! From the moment I hobbled into the office, I knew I was in good hands. Dr. Hill greeted me with a smile that could light up an operating room and his confidence that made me feel like I was about to get a hip fit for a dance floor. He was realistic with his assessments and his professionalism was beyond reproach. Dr. Hill didn’t just replace my hip; he gave me pain-free mobility back. Recovery was a breeze, thanks to the detailed instructions and the check-ins from Dr. Hill. I’m currently 12 weeks out of surgery with zero restrictions and I feel like I can enlist in the Army again. If you’re looking for a surgeon who combines professionalism, skill, artistry, and a great down to earth sense of humor, look no further than Dr. Hill. My new hip and I are ready to take on the world, one dance move at a time!

Condescending and don’t care for the patient!
It’s like this place doesn’t listen to their patients. I should’ve went somewhere else when I went to go get my MRI read and they came in to tell me that I tore my ACL, and there’s no rush to get surgery because I’m not a pro athlete! Then I have surgery on 15 July two days later I get a call asking how the pain is, I tell them it hurts n I need something stronger. When I call for something stronger I’m told they will not write me something stronger. it is August 6 and I still haven’t started physical therapy. Every time I call for more pain meds(which is once every 7 to 10 days) they lecture me on addiction. Please I just asked to get through this recovery comfortably. They treat me like I call every day for pain meds and that is not the case. I wouldn’t recommend this place! They ask you how are you are and do the opposite!

my experience was not the best. let me preface this review by saying I worked as an RN for 35 years. I know my way around the recovery process. Ihad problems with my knee feeling like it was unstable and my knee cap felt like it was sliding. Dr Hill put me in a brace which was not helpful. I kept telling him it felt like a structual issue. He sent me back to rehab twice and again I told him this was a structual issue. I got a second opinion and on JUly 17 had recon structive surgery. The problem was the component at the thigh bone connection was in the wrong position. My knee is great now. I felt like Dr Hill didnt listen to me and was not interested in solving the issue

Very thorough, knowledgeable and easy to talk to.
Dr. Hill saved my husband from having a total hip surgery he did not need. Consulting with Dr. Hill for a second opinion was the best thing we ever did. After being told he needed a total hip replacement by another dr, Dr. Hill reviewed the x-rays and determined he did not need surgery at all. He prescribed some medicines which took away the pain my husband was suffering from for months. So glad we talked with Dr. Hill. Would highly recommend!

He's everything a person would appreciate and expect in a physician! Dr. Hill came highly recommended from my primary physician. Moreover, his staff was unbelievably kind! Both of my hips were necrotic. I saw Dr. Hill and said I have 12 weeks for FMLA, can we get both hips replaced in that time? He said yes. He did anterior replacements 6 weeks apart at St. John Macomb Hospital. This repair allowed for more motion right after surgery than the old way.. He did a phenomenal job! It is not often that you find a surgeon with a good bedside manner who is as skilled as Dr. Hill.. His office staff was attentive and helpful. I highly recommend him!

This guy is terrible! He operated on my ankle to fix a "simple" fracture. I had more pain after the surgery than before and it kept getting worse. The surgical site was infected and when I went to another surgeon they told me the bones were never put together right. I've now had two surgeries to clean out the wound because Hill ignored the infection. The bones still have not healed, and my new surgeon says if we don't get source control I may need another surgery. Dr. Hill has ruined my life.

I went to Dr Hill with severe pain in both knees. He confirmed what I suspected. I was walking bone on bone in both knees. I had been living with this pain for so many years until my primary care physician recommend that I see Dr. Hill. I had a total knee replacement in both knees. Super great recovery time! I was able to return to work in 6 weeks at a stand up job with a sit when needed restriction. I appreciate the care Dr Hill and his staff gave me.

Dr. Hill was a God send in fixing my sons broken wrist from a football injury. We initially had a previous ortho surgeon assigned who was not competent to recognize a broken bone therefore my sons bone started healing incorrectly. Dr. Hill had a great sense of urgency to reset the break and came into the hospital on a Saturday morning. He showed us the X-rays and explained everything very thoroughly. He had a caring bedside manner. Very polite man. Very grateful for him.

If you have hip or knee pain you owe it to yourself to consult with Dr. Derek Hill. I had an anterior hip replacement – this was the best decision I made (along with having a top notch orthopedic surgeon). I had a smooth recovery and have resumed my activities without any hip pain or limp. Dr. Hill’s dedicated skills in the field of orthopedic surgery is apparent when you consult with him. He has been recognized in 2014 & 2015 by his peers as a “Top Doctor” in Detroit’s Hour magazine. I woul
