Dr. Derek Amanatullah, MD

In June, 2022 an ortho surgeon in Danville who had performed menisci repair, misplaced a post-op PRP injection which resulted in excruciating nerve damage 20 minutes later. The original surgeon was 'puzzled' by my 'reaction' and in my final post-op visit after a re-tear in 8/22, when I told him I was still in horrible pain, he said 'I don't know why' and made a 30 day follow-up appointment. About eight doctors in three specialities never found a solution to what was diagnosed as damage to the saphaneous nerve and I been unable to work or travel due to painI recently met with Dr. Amanatullah at Stanford. If you need an ortho specialist/surgeon you will never find anyone better. He listened patiently, explained the anatomy and issue and immediately mapped out a plan. I have found Stanford medical care to be the best of the best. I have been to 3 other departments. You can trust them explicitly. I live in Walnut Creek and the drive is about 1 1/2 hours). Worth every minute.

I received excellent care by his team of doctors and staff during my office visits in his Redwood city office my hospital appointments and all visits pertaining to my hospital stay. His respect, courtesy, and honesty i consider as outstanding and very much appreciated. He is definitely a master in making sure his patients get the best of care in all manners and medical procedures. I was highly aware of the loving-kindness I received in human caring. Dr. Amanatullah performed an excellent hip replacement for me - my recovery was as rapid as could be hoped, and my return to normal activity was much faster than expected. Dr. Amanatullah is an incredibly skilled surgeon, and equally professional, caring transparent.

NEVER.......stay away as is more show than substance! did a knee replacement for parent that left him in pain and immobility... did not accept responsibility till 1 year later....said there could be infection and a corrective surgery needs to be done......

In June of 2020, my mother was referred to Dr. Amanatullah by her primary care doctor due to severe issues with her right hip. Our experience with the Dr was excellent from the very first visit. He was very kind and understanding and after taking X RAYS he explained to us in detail what needed to be done. On 6/29/2020 Dr. Amanatullah replaced my Mothers right hip and he did a wonderful job. My mom was up and walking within 2 weeks of the surgery. 3 months later my mother is fully mobile. In addition, my youngest daughter is studying Medicine and on the day of the Surgery, the Dr called us to update us regarding the Surgery at which time he spent time talking to my daughter in detail about the procedure. I have never experienced this with any other doctor. He was extremely patient and kind. I cannot stress enough what a great experience we have had and I truly recommend that you use Dr. Ammanatullah he is truly a great Doctor.

Due to chronic DVT I was unable to locate a surgeon willing to perform knee surgery. After waiting for nearly 10 years to find the right doctor, I had both knees replaced by Dr. Amanatullah. He did a great job. It's been nearly 1 year since the first replacement and everything has progressed perfectly. I never should have waited as long as I did as I became sedentary which caused my leg muscles to deteriorate. My advice - Don't wait any longer. See Dr. Amanatullah and start living an active life again!

Excellent. If I were to need any other surgery on my other hip I would go back to see Dr. Amanatullah. He gave me the freedom to continue walking without any pain.

I had left hip replacement surgery in my home town. I ended up with a 1" leg length difference and pain. Dr. Amantullah did my right hip and I have NO PAIN in that hip and he made the leg length difference negligible, I am able to walk, exercise, do anything I want to do. I would recommend Dr. Amantullah to EVERYONE. He gave me back my life. He is easy to talk to and will spend all the time you need with you.
