Dcotors should not play God
Dr. Cornejo removed the majority of my 90-year-old mom's small intestine in an emergency surgery on January 6, 2024. My 91-year-old dad called and said to come straight to the hospital as the doctor is talking hospice. We arrived at the hospital and Dr. Cornejo came into the room. She explained what she did and the severity of the situation. Then she ended with saying my mom had '2 days, 2 weeks or 2 months' to live and we need to arrange hospice. During the 5 days that my mom was in the hospital, Dr. Cornejo continued to tell my mom she had 2 days, 2 weeks, maybe 2 months. My mom lived with a death sentence in her mind for 2 months, wondering every day why she woke up. No doctor reserves the right to play God. Yes, she was giving us worst case, but never once indicated that this is not always the case and miracles can happen. Today is January 10, 2025 and guess what? My mom is still alive and doing very well for 92 years old. My mom is a miracle.

she performed emergency bowel surgery. Follow up next two days then passed off to another doctor. What she did as far as surgery was no problem.

Dr Cornejo was my emergency surgeon at Honor Health Osborn. I needed my gallbladder removed and she did an amazing job! Everything went really well and she followed up nicely.
