Terrible
I would give Dr. Sommer zero stars if I could. Both times I went to see her, it was 50+ minutes after my appointment time before I actually saw her. Both times she spent about 5 minutes with me. Most recently, she didn’t say hello, ask how I was or even apologize for the ridiculous wait - she just walked in and told me I had to change a longtime prescription without any discussion. She was condescending and didn’t seem to care about my concerns. I will never go back and wouldn’t recommend her to anyone.

She never saw me again after she allowed me to have a fourth degree tear with my first baby. She never apologized. What kind of person could be so heartless. She was in her 23rd hour of a 24 hour shift. Yes, she was tired, but she knew she had left me with a lifetime of suffering. Still she never said I'm sorry or saw me again.

I typically see Dr. Somer for my routine annual check ups. I have been going to her practice for almost twenty years and she is ALWAYS pleasant and professional. She makes a point to ask about my three grown children at every annual appointment. She takes extra time to explain things and answers questions thoroughly. I never feel like I am being rushed out the door. Dr. Somer is probably my favorite doctor that I have ever had and I hope she never retires!

Saw her for the first time when I found 2 breast lumps. After reading my chart before she saw me and without discussing anything with me , she raised her voice and started to yell (not kidding) at me about meds I was taking (that she thought I shouldn't be) and about a Dr I was seeing (that she thought I shouldn't be) for another unrelated issue. After confirming the lumps, she yelled (again not kidding) at me twice about me needing to come back for a followup after the mammograms. Would never put myself in that position again or follow up with her for anything.

She accused me of not answering calls that I never received and yelled at me before a procedure. She didn’t listen about my concerns with an ultrasound result that I questioned. A pathology report for an endometrial biopsy showed no material was obtained for analysis. She covered up her mistake by not putting the results on the UPMC portal. I came in concerned and her nurse, Nicole, covered for her by saying the test was not needed and just to watch for symptoms. Ironically, my results were posted the next day. The Dr. was in the next room and wouldn’t even come in to face me. I filed a complaint with UPMC and they couldn’t get her to return calls, but still wanted me to pay for the test. Karen, the patient relations person at Magee basically listened and did nothing. This Dr. has too many years of experience to make this type of error. It is time for her to retire.

began seeing Dr Sommer a couple years ago for a routine exam. First impression- she walked in, called me the wrong name, and started talking about my miscarriage. She had the wrong patient! Fast forward to when I did miscarry, I felt more like a number than a patient. Now I'm pregnant again and recently had some issues, she made me feel like I was over reacting & almost faking to obtain an ultrasound. Shes also messed up a lot of scripts & is always behind schedule, very frustrating/unorganized!

Complete lack of empathy or care for medical situations. My baby was found to have no heartbeat after she referred me for an ultrasound across the hallway and I was placed back into the general waiting area and ignored until another doctor in a neighboring practice saw me. I saw nothing of Dr. Sommer. Then, the office failed to schedule my procedure for the next day, as promised. Then, I received a call from her to get bloodwork done urgently. There was no record of that in my chart.
