Agreed: Dr Hughes shouldn't be practicing medicine
Did a poor job managing my heart failure and because of her incompetence I almost died from a V-Tach event. My ICD was not set correctly and it did not shock me when my heart rate was dangerously high. The hospital that treated me sent 35 pages of detailed information about my stay which she did not even read when I had a follow-up appointment. She said that she did not have the time to read it and planned to read it during my 15 minute appointment. Failure.

Unkind
my husband and I are struggling to deal with the uncertainty we face following his recent heart attack. When I called as instructed for a heart rate less than 40, I was admonished by the on-call cardiologist for using the emergency phone line. I was given a very brief recommendation regarding medication, but not offered one ounce of compassion or supportive listening and absolutely no advice. After I apologized for bothering her, Dr. Deborah Hughes actually hung up on me.

Really Great Healthcare
Dr Hughes is very caring and considerate. I felt that I was in capable hands as she took time to answer my questions and carefully consider my circumstances. I would definitely recommend her and go back to her should I need further care. Thank-you Dr. Hughes!

Excellent Doctor
Dr. Hughes gave my husband a correct diagnosis so that he could proceed to surgery. His EKG had been suspect because of a technical error. Dr. Hughes was able to quickly ascertain this and clear him for surgery. So grateful for Dr. Hughes.

This doctor should not be practicing medicine
Debra Hughes had me leave the office crying. She had no knowledge on POTS and had the audacity to google my condition in front of me and then gave me unsolicited advice about how I should NOT have a child. I have been cleared to have a child by multiple providers and not by one like her with no education on my history or why I went to see her in the first place which was for POTS. She also doubted my diagnosis from Legacy Health in Portland. She tried to prescribe a medication to me she knows nothing about because google populated it as an option for people with POTS and then said I would pay out of pocket for it. Why would I trust her at all to prescribe anything to me? She has no empathy and I have shared this experience to a network where another patient actually had the same experience with her! To add to it she told me there are no specialists in Oregon for my condition which is a lie. I will be reporting this to the medical board.

Would never recommend
Dismissed results from other doctors and had to Google my medical condition as she was dismissing my concerns. Truly I felt discriminated. If you don't have knowledge as a doctor be honest. Don't give your opinion if you don't know what you are talking about and please further your education. If my skin was a different color would my concerns have been listened to instead of dismissed.

Dismissive and Frustrating
Experiencing many symptoms Post-Covid, my primary doctor referred me to Oregon Heart Center. The clinic there scheduled me with Dr. Hughes. I had 2 appointments with her. She made me feel like I was wasting her time and basically over-reacting, also telling me 'women tend to over-report symptoms.' I find her incredibly frustrating and dismissive, treating me like I am making issues where there are none. I pointed out to her that my primary doctor is the one who sent me to her because of their concerns with my heart, and that none of these symptoms happened until after getting Covid.

Never
One of the worst experience with a doctor ever. She would not listen to me try to explain my history and symptoms. I would have to ask her several times to get a response to a question. She ordered medication for me that she did not even tell me. The doctor said she had reviewed my history but would not tell me what she knew. Even with my extensive heart history and no other health issues. I was told that I could not know it was a heart event and it could be many things. In this case it was another heart event. Once that was confirmed by blood work I never saw her again which was fine by me

Trust
When I went to the hospital having lost over five units of blood I was receiving IVs of whole blood, Lactate Ringers and Normal Saline. I had an episode of atrial fibrillation and Dr. Hughes prescribed an oral medication which overcame the issue and allowed me to return to a normal cardiac condition. The following year I was given a telemetry device to wear for two days and Dr. Hughes revue revealed that my cardic rhythm was normal and consistent with a man of my age. Dr. Hughes has always been concerned and analytical regarding my cardiac health. I trust and appreciate her.
