Excellent surgeon and team
I initially saw Dr. Schueller for treatment of hip bursitis and arthritis. After attempting more conservative measures (physical therapy, cortisone injections, pain medication), and an xray and MRI showing bone-on-bone cartilage degeneration, we decided on a total hip replacement. The process from start to current state of 2 weeks post-OP, has been surprisingly smooth! Their focus seems to be on infection control, patient education, and great results. The entire team has been professional, knowledgeable, and compassionate. I'd highly recommend Dr. Schueller.

Definitely not a physician that I would recommend
Arrogant and self serving. Wrote me off and told me to go to the ER. I contacted St Joe's directly. They were not concerend.

Dean Schuler destroyed my life of service. I broke both bones below the left knee. St. Joseph Hosp. scheduled him for my surgery. His arrogance did not instill my confidence. He assured me "Not all surgeons can fix this right, but I can & I have the O.R. reserved tomorrow". He "fixed it" alright... & when I arrived 8 days later for the appointment HE ordered, I waited over 4 hours in the waiting room, before x-rays, and another 45 minutes in the exam room. I was in excruciating pain & my lower leg was swollen more than twice normal. He finally came in, looked at the x-rays, and said it looked good to him. He told me the nurse at the rehab facility could remove the staples. I ended up with a permanent blood clot in my leg, (he should have diagnosed it on the 8th day) & 2 more surgeries, I lost my knee because he botched the repair so bad, & I spent the next 3 years learning to walk. For the rest of my life, I will struggle with stairs & never have the stability or stamina I need.

I have never met a more arrogant, sarcastic, rude, condescending, Dr. in my life. I would not return to this office if he were the only Orthopedic Surgeon on the planet. Do you self a favor and look elsewhere. No one needs to be treated that way when they are trying to get information on and take care of their health issues.

Worse than Poor. My mother saw Dr Schueller after she had been dealing with mobility issues for 3 years. His examination of her was based on watching her take 3 steps after which he claimed that she “walked fine” and that nothing was wrong with her hips even with pain and trouble walking. My mother became emotional as her mobility is something she has been dealing with for years. Dr. Schueller callously jusged her for becoming emotional and said “bad news but there’s nothing I can do for you”

Very truthful, won't do any unnecessary procedures. Will try non-invasive treatments before surgery. Have sent both my children & grandchildren to see him. My one grandchild comes from Ohio to see him.

Not Professional. This doctor was rude, spent less than 10 minutes. He accepted the urgent care diagnosis and directed me to get a orthopedic boot and use urgent care paperwork as a guideline for follow up instructions which only explained how to used crutches. I returned the next day to ask for follow up care directions. Next visit six weeks later either he or a colleague had read the ex-ray and provided a description of the fracture which was more detailed than the urgent care diagnosis.

Schueller explains your upcoming surgery in as much detail as you request. He is an excellent surgeon and make the procedure as swift and easy as possible. Great before and after care. Wait time in waiting room varies but exam room waits are short. I do not generally trust doctors but I do trust him.

I just left Dr. Schueller's office. He was HORRIBLE. He was with me less than 5 minutes, did not let me finish a single sentence, and was condescending and rude about my condition and overall health. I am horrified any doctor could treat a patient like that. 6 months ago, I fainted and fractured my pelvis in 5 places, which was incorrectly diagnosed by 2 doctors. I am new to MI, and was trying to establish care with an orthopedic doctor to oversee my healing. I will absolutely not go back.

This doctor is extremely rude. I saw him to get a second opinion for a labral tear in my hip. The doctor complained about the nurses on his staff, and did not listen to a word I said. He then took my leg and twisted it back and forth in a very rough manner, which was quite painful. 10 minutes later he insisted I have arthritis and told me to be "very afraid". When I asked him questions he either shrugged or spoke to me in a condescending manner. I won't be back.

I've had knee problems since i was 14. My knee has recently flared up and the way they have helped me before was by going in and removing the extra cartalige in my knee. My knee cap has a hole in it and now i have a half a knee cap. Dr. Schueller was not only rude by telling me that i was overweight because im lazy which isnt the case at all i work in an oil change shop and im on my feet for 12 hours a day but also didn't help to resolve my issue at all. He was extremely condescending and rude

My father went to this physician for shoulder pain and numbness in his hand. Dr. Schueller and his staff not only lost his MRI results and all his other imaging but then when my Dad asked for it back the doctor told him that he still had it and pretty much called him a liar. They waited 2 hours to see this joke of a doctor and he had the audacity to spend 15 minutes with them! He stated that his issues were carpal tunnel and scheduled a surgery that was denied due to lack of medical necessity!

I have a pretty straightforward case, but Dr. Schueller & his staff have been helpful & reassuring. This is the first bone I have broken & I was anxious about it. I felt at ease after my 1st appt. I found out I would not need surgery and Dr. Schueller was confident that I was on the road to healing well which made me feel much better about my broken wrist. The assistant who put my cast on was very nice as well. I was able to get a waterproof cast so that I could swim in it. -T.Alam
