Dr. Dawn Swarm, MD

When I was 16, Dr. Swarm performed a labrum repair on my shoulder. I told her I had dislocated it multiple times, but she didn’t believe me. After surgery, which had complications, I felt like nothing had been done. Three months later, my shoulder dislocated again. At 17, she wanted to do a fusion, but another surgeon warned me that my shoulder had been neglected, leading to massive bone loss. This ultimately cost me my football career. I later needed pins and a bone fusion. I don’t know if she has improved, but I still feel disgusted by what I went through—something that could have been prevented with a better surgeon. I would not recommend anyone have surgery performed by her and warn anyone with Kaiser who needs shoulder surgery to seek another opinion.

A surgeon is there to perform a very serious operation on your body, she's not there to coddle you. Stupid review above me. Anyway, she did a full knee replacement on me and I am satisfied with her work. Doctors such as her are performing miracles. I can't think of anything to complain about. She does thousands of such miracles. I would recommend her to anyone. She's the real deal. Ken Wersh Malibu California

Went to Dr. Swarm for a second opinion regarding my shoulder with limited ability to raise my arm above shoulder height. An outside non-Kaiser orthopedic MD recommended shoulder surgery for rotator cuff tear. But Dr. Swarm reviewed my MRI and examined me to determine I more likely had "frozen shoulder syndrome". With more aggressive physical therapy I recovered full movement of arm-shoulder without surgery! It is not always about doing surgery. Sometimes it is about when not to do surgery!

?Dr. Swarm is an awesome human being, doctor & head of the Orthopedic department at Kaiser. With Dr. Sollaccio and Dr. DeGiacomo, they worked as a team to help put my son’s collarbone and wrist back together after a bad mountain biking fall. They went way beyond good work - and collaborated to do awesome work, brainstorming a creative way to move his collarbone back into position and to repair his wrist – which was in many pieces. Dr. Swarm is an awesome human being - Thank You - from mom!

Awful. Hate her. Would never send a family member to this surgeon. Emotional yet cold at the same time.
