Dr. Streem started my initial and subsequent visits with an air of distrust. I didn't feel that he listened as I spoke. He seemed distracted. He called me "a liar" when he didn't remember a piece of information I told him previously. I had to remind him it was the day of one of his speeches on the main campus and he seemed distracted with that the entire visit. He unexpectedly discontinued a 3mg daily dose of Clonazepam that had been prescribed to me by his predecessor nearly a decade ago. He seemed unaware that benzodiazepines need to be discontinued gradually and that protocols, such as the Ashton taper method, are the proper way to wean a patient off benzodiazepine usage. According to the Benzodiazepine Information Coalition, suddenly stopping benzodiazepines can result in "chest pain, trouble breathing, seizures, delusions, hallucinations, high temperatures, and coma" and "can be deadly". If it weren't for the intervention of doctors at University Hospitals, I may have died.

Dr. Streem is, in my opinion, the best in his field in what he practices and also a class act of a human being. Yes, I would definitely recommend him. I recommended him for a doctor of the year award, at the Cleveland Clinic, if they have that.

Dr Steem argued with me the first time we met. He was only interested in his own opinion (although staff did an assessment and not him) and would not entertain a difference of opinion. I was surprised that he was so rude. It was hard to be polite, but I kept my composure. Definitely avoid this doctor, he stereotypes people. Sorry Cleveland Clinic...
