Top Notch
I was a patient of hi for over 10 yrs and he is just wonderful. He's kind, gentle, compassionate and really cares about you. He helped me through the deaths of both of my parents. I would highly recommend him.

Was confounded and dumbfounded by this doctor’s...
… lack of integrity. Utterly disgraceful. Do not go near this doctor. Stay far, far back. Dr. McNeil was extremely hostile to me as it relates to our relationship. To start, I am a 24-year 2-Star US Military Vet Commissioned Officer and have fought valiantly in Iraq and Afghanistan. And Dr. McNeil has the temerity and unmitigated gall to talk down on me? I couldn’t believe what I was getting myself into. Dr. McNeil seems not to care that I lost Both Legs in combat, and saw my comrades bleed on the battlefield. I was misdiagnosed as it pertains to Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and was appalled and aghast at how none of this meant anything to Dr. McNeil. I was sent to the ER due to Dr. McNeil’s overdose, and on top of all of this, I was overcharged for my visits that Dr. McNeil was late to!

Before Dr. McNeil Retired
Dr. David McNeil was my Psyciatrist for several years. He was Personal, attentive, and empathetic. The staff was friendly and helpful. He worked well with all the staff. I’m going to see someone from the company that bought his practice.I will miss seeing Dave McNeil, but he has earned his retirement.

I have been seeing Dr. McNeil since 1989 when I was lucky enough to have been assigned to him. He is one of the most knowledgeable physicians I know and in my lifetime I have had the unfortunate pleasure of meeting with many many doctors job. I would not have stayed with Dr. McNeil if not for his outstanding compassion and clinical skills. Recently I had a family crisis. I urgently needed to speak to him - and he squeezed me in. No rushing from him. That's why he is often late to appointments (the only negative) - he accommodates emergencies on occasion. But over the past 30 years, Dr. McNeil has provided me with solid direction and medication advice. There is no one who understands medications like he does. So I put up with tardiness because I see him once every three months and one most accept his humanity if you want his vast clinical knowledge. And I have never felt judged by him, only support.

Very distracted professional who could not use portal to speak with me. Ended up on a smartphone his secretary brought over to him. Very poor session. May I suggest he consider retiring.

just now Dr. McNeil seemed nice enough for the first few telehealth visits we had. Later, he thought it was wise to accuse me of not taking a medication he had prescribed that I had to discontinue due to side effects. He tried to pressure me into doing video visits even though my insurance covers telephone visits & I had explained that I didn't want to use the video option. He wrote prescriptions for the medications that I take and have been on for years (and work well) but decided to end the call by saying it was, "suspiciously simple." I switched to the Nurse Practitioner Christine Abt and was told our first visit would be through video. She called me instead, which was fine. But then today, she wanted me to join a virtual visit on my phone & I was unable and explained to her the reasoning. She refused to write refills for my prescriptions over the phone, stating, "it's no way to conduct business during Covid-19." That's funny, then how come the entire time I was a patient of this p

Very bad experience. Was disrespectful and hostile towards patients. He treats his staff horribly. How he is apparently still a psychiatrist is awful. Many mental health staff know he is known as very insensitive and hostile towards patients that come to see him.

Very professional and friendly. Easy to converse with. Dr. McNeil discusses treatment options. I believe we work together as equals in making decisions. More often than not I have to wait more than 15 minutes past my scheduled appointment time. However, other doctors I have seen, the wait time could and often was over an hour. Highly recommend. Only one request for an urgent appointment but was able to be the following day. Staff are always friendly and personable.

I have been seeing Dr. McNeil for about 1 year (3 different visits). He has a pleasant personality, but I have been disappointed the last two times. During these visits, he kept using his smart phone and was very distracted by messages he received (I had to repeat what I was saying). He does seem knowledgeable about medications, but does not give you his full attention.

He "fired" me as a patient in my greatest time of need. More worried about himself than about his patients.

Have spent way too much time sitting in his waiting room, way past my appointment time. Have waited as long as an hour past. Not sure if he has ADD as well but often seems like he's not listening. Never again

Dr. McNeil is kind, warm, hawkishly intelligent and spends no-limit time finding the exactly right medication. He has a tremendous sense of humor and he listens to me. He follows up quickly and is always available by phone when needed. He has no superior attitude and works with me in finding solutions to my issues. Wow! I am 74 years old and have never been accurately diagnosed and treated until now. I am blessed to have come to the Chicago area and to have been referred to this doctor.
