Dr. Mattingly is the best. Has done two hip revisions and two knee surgeries on me. Now I need a revision of my surgery and was so sad to hear he is retiring just when I need him most… believe me when I say he is the best and nicest doctor I’ve ever met. Hard for me to trust anyone else.

Dr. David Mattingly, top hip surgeon
Dr. Mattingly replaced my Right hip in 2010. He is the best. I can't tell the difference between my replaced hip joint and the same hip when it was still healthy. His thorough explanations, his concerned and kind approach to patients are wonderful. When he saw me in the hospital the day after my hip replacement, he sat down and showed me how to massage my right thigh to keep my leg flexible post surgery. I will be coming all the way from New Mexico to see him again, and if my left hip replaced in 2001 needs replacement, I will have him again as my orthopedist. Nancy Cetlin

Doctor Mattingly was my second opinion Doctor and he exceeded my expectations. He greeted me, introduced himself and listened to my concern. He did a thorough examination of both my hips and he went over my X-rays with me sitting nest to him. He just kept talking, taking the time to explain the procedure and showed me that I only needed one hip replaced. His passion for what he does was obvious! The first opinion Doctor said I needed both hips replaced without doing any imaging of my left hip. Doctor Mattingly had X-rays of both hips done prior to my appointment. Doctor Mattingly replaced my right hip. The surgery team, recovery and every staff member at New England Baptist Hospital were so professional and compassionate of their work. Their focus and concerns toward me as the patient was over the top excellent! They put me at ease. And the hospital food was better than most restaurants. Best decision I made was choosing Doctor Mattingly and NEBH!! ****** Six stars!!!

The best !! Two knee replacements for me, and a hip replacement for my wife. Would go to no one else, or any other place except New England Baptist. Live approx 45 miles away , but well worth it.

Thanks to Dr Mattingly I am able to lead a full life. Prior to my double knee replacement I was in constant pain. I had resisted surgery for years. Dr Mattingly and his team walked me through every aspect of the surgery. They explained what would happen before, during and after. Very thorough and helpful. Life changing event that well. Thank you!

I had total hip replacement end of January 2019. I was driving within four weeks and bike riding two weeks after that. First time in two and a half years with NO PAIN AT ALL. People have told me that ten years have come off my face since this was done. I must have looked real miserable but no more. Dr. Mattingly has changed my life and I’m so grateful to him. He has followed me carefully and with concern. As for anew England Baptist?? The absolute BEST. They leave no stone unturned and everyone communicates with each other. A very very positive experience all around.

Hip replacement in 9/17. Dr. Mattingly is an excellent surgeon and diagnostician. He explains what should be done with confidence. His office staff is friendly and responsive to all needs. Care at New England Baptist was excellent.. I know of at least 10 friends who have travelled from Cape Cod to Boston just to be receive hip/knee replacements from him. I am having a knee replacement from him in March 2018. Simply the best.

I had a knee replacement 10 years ago by Dr Mattingly. Recovery was awful and have had some discomfort ever since. Leg with replacement is longer than the other. Last year came across a patient who had her knee replaced by him recently who is having a terrible time. Last month came across a patient of his who he worked on 5 years ago. She just had revision surgery by another surgeon because of problems. The one thing we all have in common are small bones.
