I met with Dr. Loya after a sports-related injury to my knee. After an exam, he deemed the injury to be non-surgical: an ACL sprain and potentially partially torn meniscus. He had an X-ray completed but didn’t believe an MRI was necessary at the time. After experiencing other instances of my knee buckling several months after the initial visit, I returned to Dr. Loya with results from an MRI. His evaluation was unchanged – the ACL was intact and surgery was not needed, only physical therapy. I brought the doctor’s note to my physical therapist along with the MRI report. The therapist quickly pointed out that the doctor’s diagnosis and MRI report were conflicting. The MRI report referred to an abnormal ACL and prior tear, both inconsistent with the doctor’s diagnosis to me even after having the MRI imaging and report. A second opinion to another doctor quickly revealed that the ACL was in fact fully detached and required surgery to repair. A complete misdiagnosis.

I was a referred to Dr. Loya by my primary doctor. I went to the ER early Sunday morning with fluids in my knee. ER did nothing except give me painkillers (which did not work to relieve the pain ). Dr. Loya went out of his way to open up his office on a Sunday evening to see me and drain my knee. Next day, he scoped and cleaned out my knee. Now l'm on the road to recovery.
