Dr. David Koota, MD

Been with a kidney stone for over month and dr.koota said I needed to get surgery done really soon before he goes on vacation , and I go on vacation as well. He also said he will get this procedure done before we both leave. The scheduling person was suppose to call me within the next couple days, days pass by without a single call, me and my wife decided to call and we get transferred to voice mail every time , where we left multiple messages that we never have gotten a response. I am concerned for my health and that I leave soon for vacation I called again on march 15 at 2:00 pm . Receptionist answered and directed me to the voicemail once again and I tried to explain to her I already left multiple messages and haven’t gotten a call back and before I could finish what I was saying she hung up on me and not just once but 3 times and cuts me off every single time. I called one last time and finally the scheduling person answered I tried to explain and she did the same thing.

Five stars are not enough for my experience with Dr. Koota. I met Dr. Koota in the emergency room of Saint Peters in 2014 when I was in renal failure. My story is a long one, but in short, I had to have about five surgeries regarding kidney stones. The surgeon who I originally saw at Raritan Bay. Did not want to continue to treat me because I was uninsured at the time. At that emergency surgery in 2014, when I was scared for my life, Dr. Koota was concerned with me and only me and getting better when I told him that I didn’t have any insurance. After a surgery and many tests, Dr. Koota had discovered that my left kidney was non functional and probably was for some time. My right kidney was filled with huge kidney stones, the kind that will not pass through your system. I have had to have three surgeries over time to get rid of them. My kidney health for my one and only kidney is currently excellent and that is because of Dr. Koota‘s expertise and compassion for his patients.

Dr. Koota has the patience, knowledge, and amazing care as I went through prostate cancer and treatment. He removed my prostate with easy and walked me through the entire process. He also does not have a problem with being very specific to diagnosis. He also supports the Jets and Mets. Wonderful man - wonderful practice. His team is excellent as well. Extremely love the experience they give.

Dr Koota has the patience and knowledge. He walked me thru Bladder Cancer so that now I am NED. His bedside manner is wonderful. His office staff is the best and as caring as he is. How lucky was I

Dr. Koota conducted a routine exam 15 months after a successful laser TURP procedure. As always I found him to be thorough, thoughtful and caring. He listened to my comments and answered my questions. I have recommended him to my sons. His work, technical competence and demeanor are outstanding.

Dr. Koota first discovered my condition through a routine exam, then confirmed his diagnosis through multiple testing and took whatever time needed to explain what I was facing and my options for addressing the issue. Once I had decided that surgery was the best option, Dr. Koota performed the procedure himself and I am happy to say that everything went as planned. I was also very appreciative of the followup care and attentiveness he had shown during the healing process. I would highly recommend Dr. Koota if you are looking for a top-notch urologist!

Dr. Koota has been one of my favorite urologist in my life. I had 30+ surgeries in my life! He was the only one who said let's try non surgical 1st and see what happens. Just an awesome experience

Dr. Koota is an extremely knowledgeable Doctor who really cares about his patient. He did kidney surgery May 27th, 2021. I would highly recommend this Doctor, and his other 2 Doctors in the East Brunswick office.

Pleasant first time experience he listened intensely to my medical problem made a quick exam, assured nothing to be worried about, took lab work results were called to me in a timely manner and was told my lab work came okey and nothing to worry about

Great Doctor. However their office with regard to acquiring prescription authorizations is an outrage! You will need to wait 2 to 3 weeks to get a medication paid by your insurance. They have only one person doing authorizations and it's constantly backlogged. There is no excuse for this! Dr Koota is great but his office is the worst i have ever encountered with regard to prescriptions. I left messages for 3 days and no one got back to me. So be aware if you require a prior authorization because you will wait forever.

Look, I went through hell. After an unrelated procedure I developed a real problem with BPH but they got me in, did all the tests and had a procedure done in a very short period of time. Best thing I ever did. I did the green light TERP and very happy with it.

Super patient and courteous. So knowledgeable and informative as well as an amazing surgeon.

Lastly I left a message for Office Manager, Ellen, to call me on March 19. It's now past 4:30 pm on March 19 and no callback from Ellen. Very disturbing! Dr. Koota is an excellent doctor, and I'm not leaving him. But the Office Staff is the worst. They just don't care about the patients!

Lack of coordination between Insurance coverage and Test/Laboratories. The office failed to send out blood work to required laboratory to be covered by our insurance, then told us that our insurance did not cover that type of blood test. When in fact, our insurance did cover the test but not the lab that Dr office sent the blood work. They failed to check our insurance to find the covered lab that did perform that particular test. They also did not notify us that the lab would be out of network, and they told us it was our responsibility to check coverage. How would we know what test was being ordered and what lab was being used when we were not informed? They very rarely answer the phone, it is usually answering machine.

I have seen Dr. Koota several times in the last 10 years. I recommend him highly.

Dr. Koota just operated on me over Thanksgiving weekend. He gave up his Friday/Saturday/Sunday and the results were positive. He is compassionate and actually listens to what you have to say.

Dr. Koota just operated on me using “green light” laser procedure the results were fantastic and I am so pleased with Dr. Koota’s compassion, bedside manner and expertise in urology. I can pee again without pain. Thanks so much, Doc

Think of yourself and find another urologist. If you do not, then prepare to be disillusioned. The soft spoken voice and mirage of concern is the prelude to unnecessary surgeries. PLEASE, get a second opinion and not from someone associated with this doctor. With racking up surgical procedures and bringing in billable charges for the hospital, this doctor secures his position with the hospital and his own financial future. Again, please do not be fooled, get a second opinion.
