I went to Dr. Kissel several years ago for major depression, anxiety and body image issues after seeing multiple other psychiatrists who were no help and made my condition worse so much so I had to check myself into a hospital. I was then referred to Dr. Kissel. He asked me a ton of questions and was the only one to get me stabilized on cocktail of several medications. I felt like he was the only one who could "get inside my brain" and figure out how to help me. I owe my life to him. I am truly shocked by these reviews. I came across these reviews researching something else.

I would not recommend Dr. Kissel to others. He is inconsistent concerning agreements made for long-term treatment. His diagnosis is focused on numbers and glosses over emotions. He is also pushy about reducing certain medications, even if you've had an extensive history of mental illness and previous attempts to function without said medication. Truly a complete frustration. Oh, and his office incorrectly charged a copay for multiple visits before dropping hundreds of dollars in bills on me.

Dr. Kissell is a terrible psychiatrist. He caused me to go through pure agony. Going through depression and awful anxiety he kept reducing my meds. I went through such withdrawals he told me to go to Our Lady of Peace twice. Because I wasn't suicidal they would not help me so the ball kept bouncing back and forth. Because I have Medicaid or what they call CareSource Just4Me I had no choice but to use him. I now have a new insurance and I WILL be going elsewhere. Praying for his patients.

Concerned Patient in Louisville, KY – Sep 14, 2016

Dr. Kissel treated me horribly and was so cruel I left his office in tears. The most uncompassionate man in the medical practice I've ever encountered. He should not be treating psychiatric patients, he made me want to commit suicide or self harm but I'm stronger than that. I hope no one else is ever as disrespected and hurt as much as I was, I feel sorry for his patients. I'll pray for him.
