Dr Engstrand is patient, thorough, and will answer all your questions in a timely manner. Great surgeon and person.

All the problems I am having since surgery, are not his problem or his fault. He has been very disrespectful to me. I just want to be done dealing with him.

A significant medical condition was identified. Dr. Engstrand was great around explaining the conditions and the process for surgical intervention. And the potential consequences of not having or delaying the surgery. During the surgery and hospital stay he was available and on top of everything around the clock. Was VERY IMPRESSED by the respect the hospital staff had for him. Was very responsive to any questions and used laymen's term in explaining all that was happening and what to expect. I was NOT an easy patient, very heightented anxiety with medical interactions so much that I was thinking of NOT going through with the surgery. one and half years post surgery I am still following up with him. And he has been excellent about addressing any questions or concerns I may have. His staff has been excellent as well.

I was very happy with the Dr. he explained everything very well . He was not in a Rush he took the time to listen to me and answer any questions I had . I will recommend him any time.

At first I was very happy with Dr. Engstrand and his team, but two years after my surgery I learned that I have major depressive disorder, PTSD, and lung disease. The lung disease intensified my depression and caused a regain of 20 lbs. This caused him to lash out and yell at me. His team of nurses and other assistants convinced me to not make any formal complaints because “ he's a very passionate man and hates seeing his patients regain weight after working so hard” & etc. I told them that I understood his frustration but I was frustrated and disappointed, too, but something was wrong. Anyway, he kept rescheduling my appointments with him at the last minute (I mean how many family emergencies can a person have and coincidentally after yelling at your patient no less) so I eventually stopped going. They also stopped calling me about making appointments. They will not allow me to switch to a new doctor, either.

My surgery didn't go right from the beginning, day of surgery they were hours behind schedule . I feel and his staff was in a hurry , I was stapled instead of using stiches because it was easier .

Dr. Engstrand is a superb physician. In 2000, he saved my life from colon cancer. During the last 17 years, he has done numerous colonoscopies, never a problem. I trust him implicitly.

If I could leave a negative star review I would. In 2010 I had a gastric bypass performed by Dr. David Engstrand. Six years later, after experiencing a lot of problems, I found out that my problem stemmed from Dr. Engstrand's negligence. He admitted this to me and so did Dr. James Burhop. The staple gun he used misfired leaving me with a gap leaving from my new stomach to my old stomach, which produced giant ulcers throughout my stomach and esophagus. They refuse to help me.
