I am looking at reviews
I know Dr Hester vaguely from a church. I am looking for someone I know to take care of my cataracts. I’m a provider with the VA in Fayetteville. I used to live in Wilmington . It sounds like his reviews are not very good. I tried to be an appointment and it took three weeks to get someone to call me. Is there any improvement in office time, doctor evaluation?

Perfect experience with cataract surgery
I could not have hoped for a better experience from start to finish with Dr. Hester and his efficient team for the first surgery in my life. Everyone was knowledgable and courteous (while still being real and relatable). The surgery was done on time and painlessly and the recovery has been easy and rapid. I'm grateful for Dr. Hester's expertise and the quality team he has assembled.

I had three appointment with Dr Hester all over 2 hours. The last one was a 9:30 appointment and I told the girl that I would have to be out by 11:00 for another appointment and I was told it would be no problem. After an hour and half I walked oTwo of the techs reminded him. I waited in the Room for over an hour with out seeing anyone.

Dr. Hester is available for emergencies.
I was seen on an emergency basis. I had to wait and expected to. He saw me. He treated the problem, and I will continue as his patient. His staff is like a breath of fresh air. I felt like a person, not a faceless number.

Dr. Hester is very professional. The wait time in his practice are excessive. Prepare for a routine visit to take 2-3 hours.

ABSOLUTE worst experience with an eye doctor ever !!!! Read every review - you are not seeing a doctor - a tech does all of the the testing including vision testing, she is rushed and is not trained/qualified enough to be accurate and she totally flopped on my new eye prescription which the doctor signed prescription without review of any kind even after I made multiple calls to the office questioning the tech and her ability. The doctor spent minutes shining a light into my eyes and gave inaccurate information as he rushed out of the room - I had zero conversation with this doctor. My prescription glasses needed to be redone and I was immediately referred to another Ophthalmologist due to serious health issues with eye and then went to an eye doctor to get new prescription. If I could give this doctor a negative 5 star I would have.

Spent 2 hours in the office for a routine eye exam. Arrived on time & was taken promptly to the examination room where the doctors assistant performed some routine eye exams & then informed me the doctor would be in to see me shortly, which turned in to be an 1/2 hour of waiting, while he flipflops from one patient to another. When he does show up he's really not interested in what you have to say he just rambles on more interested in what he wants to say then listen to you. Tried to explain some of my concerns & he tells me to hold that thought (rude), as I said more interested in hearing himself talk then the patient. Rule of thumb for a doctor is listen to your patient!!!!

Had to walk out of the office after a 2 hour 20 minute stay. My mom was being checked out,, and after waiting 40 minutes I walked outside looking for a restroom. The lady up front was there and I asked her if it was normal to wait 40 minutes, and she said of course it is, it's a medical office. Then turned around like she did not care. I started to walk off and continue looking for the restroom, but I turned around and told her this should not be normal, she argues that this is an ophthalmology office and we should get used to it. I said "without a word? They said they would be right back!" She stood up and got in my face and put her finger up to my face and I told her we have gone to other offices before, and we would at least get some courtesy for waiting. There is nothing in the room, my mom's asleep in an uncomfortable chair... and there's no sign that you care. She yelled "stop!" With her finger in my face. If people show you they don't care.. they don't care. We left

Not likely to recommend. Didn't listen. Very rushed. Didn't answer questions. Didn't explain. Handed a bunch of samples & was up to me to figure it out. Looked at phone while talking & answered text. Other staff in and out of exam room to get instruments. Very long wait.

I would recommend Dr. Hester to all my family and friends. I felt that I had the best eye exam of my life. Dr. Hester is professional and easy to understand. He spent time talking to me explaining all my eye issues. The time waiting in the reception room was well worth it. I believe he must spend quality time with all his patients.

Dr. Hester is very good, professional, and always willing to explain things. Office is bad - hard to schedule, wait times are often over 2 hours. I was there once after lights were turned off and staff had left. Not very apologetic.

You are in the office a minimum of two hours. I've had follow up appointments and waited three hours or more. When you finally see the doctor he's in there about 5 minutes.
