Exemplary Eye Doctor! Could not have been better!
Very intelligent, polite, and kind. I had cataract removal surgery in both eyes, and the results have been spectacular. Dr. Trief’s physician assistant also did an exceptional job. No down time, pain, or swelling. The facilities at Weill Cornell—where my surgeries were performed—are perfect. I can’t imagine a better Opthalmologist anywhere in New York City!

Dr.Trief is wonderful specialist !!! She gives her full attention to the person she is seeing. She is very friendly, good listener and strikingly patient She is really skilled ophthalmological surgeon! My cataract surgery went smoothly on both eyes and I now have exellent vision. She answered on all my questions before operation during appoitments and later by the phone. And she called me the evening of the day of the surgery to inquire how I was doing.

Rude staff
I called and made an appt for my father and when I called to confirm wks later bc I had not received a confirmation call from the office. I was told my dad was referred to the clinic bc his ins wasn’t accepted, yet I was never told. Melanie the scheduler - was extremely dismissive about the mistake, I asked to please speak to a manager, she said the manager wasn’t available and refused to give me her full name. I made this appt 5wks in advance, we made arrangements to be available to attend this appt. It’s extremely discouraging and frustrating to deal with these types of scenarios while being sick. I am disappointed at the lack of empathy in this office. I wouldn’t recommend this process to anyone.

Exceptional doctor
Dr. Trief was extremely clear from the initial examination through the operation and follow up. Highly intelligent and educated, she was also a good listener and strikingly patient. Most amazing, she called the evening of the day of the surgery to inquire how I was doing. She has surrounded herself with a thoughtful and helpful staff. Would that all doctors were this good.

Excellent Eye Surgeon – Jul 31, 2023

Dr. Trief has amazing credentials (she went to Harvard, Oxford, UPenn, was elected to Phi Beta Kappa, etc) and is a warm, caring person who explains things clearly. The staff is very courteous and professional and the office is impeccably clean. I felt she seemed like a true healer and feel extremely confident that she will do a great job in my cataract surgery. I went to her for a third opinion after getting conflicting advice from other ophthalmologists.

Instilled my confidence
Dr. Trief instilled my confidence. This highly intelligent and skilled ophthalmological surgeon performed my cataract removal surgery. The staff in her office at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital are so welcoming and efficient. Even the staff in the operating room could not have been nicer or more accommodating. They laid the anxiety of myself and my husband. They made the experience manageable and pain-free . I would highly recommend Dr. Trief as a patient and retired registered nurse!!

I have been seeing her for a few years. She is a great ophthalmologist. She knows what she is doing and successfully helped me manage several eye issues I had. She has great bedside manner, is always on time, and is very friendly. She knows medicine very well and was able to squeeze me in several times for some eye emergencies I had And provide relief immediately for my eye issues . Very great doctor and would definitely recommend her if you have any eye problems- corneal abrasions, dry eyes etc. It might be hard to get an appointment with her but it’s because she’s books fast due to her expertise and great medical experience. I would consider this a PLUS! She is definitely worth the wait!

I just had 2 cataract operations done by Dr. Trief. My vision in both eyes now is 20/20 and I can see colors very clearly. I am at this point in my life a photographer and travel around the world. No longer a yellow cast on eveything. If you are looking for an Ophthalomogist go no further. She is truly professional in every way. Her skills and training has made a great doctor. She is sensitive, kind and listens to one's concerns. The staff, workers and students she teaches at the medical school view her with high regard.

Dr. Trief is wonderful.....she treated me as though I was the only person she was seeing for the day.....she gives her full attention to the person she is seeing....My cataract surgery went smoothly and I now have 20-20 vision in both eyes... I had been a longterm contact lens wearer( 55 plus years ) and had been told that I would have to wait 2 months without lenses before anyone would do surgery

Dr. Danielle Trief is a superb eye surgeon. She recently did cataract surgery on both of my eyes and the results have been perfect. I received truly outstanding care from her. She is not only a phenomenally skilled surgeon with “gifted hands” but also someone who treats her patients with warmth, kindness and respect.

Dr. Trief is an exemplary doctor and medical professional. She is an expert in her field and treats patients with first class service. She is compassionate in her demeanor and thoughtful in her approach, always taking time to answer my ignorant patient questions. Dr Trief always makes sure I leave feeling informed and aware of recommended next steps and course of action. I appreciate her combination of extensive knowledge and kind, patient bedside manner.

Had cataract surgery done by another doc, with mixed results. Went to Trief for eval and to see if anything needed to be done. She was very defensive; more interested in protecting the doc who did the surgery than in my well being. I asked her why my vision is decreasing each month. She said 'I never said that, you said that.' I said I have with me a letter from an optician showing the values. She shrugged her shoulders and said 'well then I guess I have to look at that.' Very disappointing.
