One of the most arrogant doctors
Dan Ruan is truly one of the most arrogant “doctors” I have ever come across. More impressed with himself than interested in helping his patients. Avoid at all costs.

Quintessential Surgeon with heart
Our 14 yo son had rare adrenal tumors and Dr Ruan took the time to sit down with us and explain how the surgery needed to be done safely and referred us to a top notch pediatric surgeon. We are forever grateful to Dr. Ruan for his caring and concern. God Bless.

Parathyroid Surgery
I had parathyroid surgery at the Norman Parathyroid Center by Dr. Ruan. Due to complications from my surgery and following the advice of Dr. Ruan I went to an ENT for a laryngoscopy who referred me to a speech pathologist for a laryngeal videostroboscopy who referred me to a speech therapist for speech therapy. I would ask for a different surgeon next time.

Parathyroid Surgery
I was referred to Dr. Ruan by my primary care doctor after a blood test showed I had too much calcium. Dr, Ruan removed 2 of my parathyroid glands and is truly a miracle worker. I had been living with serious back pain for about 10 years. I thought it would be something I would always have. A week after Dr. Ruan performed parathyroid surgery I was surprised that I had no back pain whatsoever! It has been a huge relief and I am amazed that I am pain free. It makes a huge difference in the quality of my life and I truly appreciate Dr. Ruan’s skill. I will always be grateful for his expertise.

No. In my opinion this endocrine surgeon is very arrogant and talks down to the patient. I’m one to do research before a procedure and one to ask questions and explanations. He accused my sister and I of “putting words in his mouth “ and had my sister in tears when we were trying to figure out why in his written report his description of the surgery was different from the outcome of the surgery which was a good outcome. We just basically wanted to know the physical reason of what he saw once he was performing the operation as to why he didn’t have to perform the surgery as prescribed in the written report. He seemed to become agitated, and impatient. No doubt the man is an excellent surgeon, but at Norman Patathyroid Center in Tampa, Fl, there are several spectacular surgeons with calm, patient personalities. I would never myself use Dr Ruan, as to me, he sees himself above a lowly patient. I not only want a doctor with skill but one who treats me with respect.

Dr. Ruan is a rockstar. He quickly located and removed an overactive parathyroid gland, checked the other three and stitched/glued me back together in a way that left no visible scar 6 months later. I recommend him highly. He knows how to get the job done without disturbing the delicate nerves and other circuitry in the area of the thyroid and parathyroids. He and the Norman Parathyroid Center at Tampa General are pros. I traveled there from Atlanta. Glad I did. Great phone app to aid in diagnosis. I think he could have done this operation with his eyes closed, but I think he kept them open. I wouldn't know; I was sound asleep. I left the hospital an hour or two after the surgery, took a nap at the hotel and had takeout from Bern's Steakhouse that evening. And a glass of D66, a tasty red granache, to celebrate. Fast recovery! Drove home the next day and have been right as rain. Right as Ruan? In God we trust, but Ruan is a must. I'm not making that up. He's great.

My Wife Ana and I are so very thankful for having been given a referral to Dr Daniel Ruan. She was diagnosed with Cushings disease it affects the adrenal glands and is very serious with a lot of risk if not treated by surgery. Dr Ruan has an amazing positive personality matched by his surgical expertise. He is one of the only Local Surgical Doctors in the Northeast US. With the expert training to perform this type of surgery . We appreciate all he did for Ana ! Sincerely, Ana&John Martin

My experience with Dr. Ruan was nothing short of outstanding; from my consult, through my surgery, and subsequent follow ups. He is a positive, experienced surgeon with a great bedside manner. He put both my husband and me at ease, especially just before the surgery. The operation was successful, and the scar is barely visible (4 weeks later). Dr. Ruan is the whole package: friendly, highly skilled and knowledgeable in all the new technology. I would recommend him to anyone!

Dr. Ruan is excellent: (1) he explained thoroughly & understandably the procedure, a thyroidectomy, the risks & the possible consequences, and he answered all of my questions; (2) the surgery went well, without complications; (3) but for a bandage covering the incision, there is no evidence of the surgery; (4) responsive, he promptly returned my telephone call 3 days after the surgery & he immediately called me upon receiving the biopsy & recent blood work results; (5) he is very nice.
